Part 3

Okay so pretty much this was all about timeline stuff. so I'm just gona put down my own opinion

Advancing the timeline to an extreme level is a bad idea unless you plan to do a hard reset on the entire sim and wanna do up all the lore. anything more then a year or three is bad news bears.

but well it sounds like you wanna do something sim to shake things up a bit....*ponders*............... alright this one works for just about anything you wanna do. multidimensional cataclysm. bam multiple dimensions are crashed into each other, the world a mix and match of different things, new and strange technologies appear... wait scratch that... okay ummm *think think think* .......... *flails and flops*.............................some kind of world shattering even happens... I'm thinking.... 2 gods battle it out. in the wake of their destruction the world lays shattered, familiar place gone forever, the next few year the people slowly rebuild. (I think someone said something about using sky boxes?) Dimensional pockets are opened all over the world that lead to strange and sometimes dangerous places. but in them the people find their salvation. Strange new technologies  a derived from the adventuring this places. using these new technologies the people are able to rebuild their world. some however saw only the raw power that these technologies bring and instead use them craft weapons. The people are to late to stop this from happening, however many of them choose to take up arms and fight back. their old world may be gone, but their spirits rage as they see young new world already leaning towards destruction.

with this you have interesting option. you can destroy the world. and at the same time give people the ability to shape the new one. have them be part of the rebirth of the sim. make them feel like they are important and mean something.  cause they do. ((course this could end up badly XD )) but hey you got all these dimensional pockets now, maybe a group players set up shop in one them and build a base? I dunno *shrugs*

I for one would like to a whole area be one big city, and then another be the forest, I feel like the current city is just to small.

[17:27]  Wolf601 Resident: I like the idea of allowing each faction to have their own style. It helps solidify the faction as a unique entity of it's own. From a purely RP standpoint, it's a great thing. In terms of prim size and all that - in short I'm absolutely ignorant about that but if it meant lower prims and lower prims meant less lag or something, even better.

I like this

and I'm runnig out of steam didn't get much sleep and rest looks so boring to read X_X

ummm final thoughts... maybe advertise this forum more? especially this topic cause it's so important to the sims future. encourage people to come here and say their thoughts. I really hope you guys can do something great with your sim. uhhh I offended or upset anyone sorry. remember I don't actually know to much about Lismore so you know don't take anything I say as stone cold facts. I wrote all this late on only 2 or 3 hours of sleep so maybe forgive me if I turn out to be a big idiot... stay classy sandiago?

I think it would nice if along with the overview, if their were bit of lore scattered about. scraps of paper with history on them, a library with tons of reading for Lore fanatics. a statue commemorated to something that tells a story with it's depiction. Basic immersion.

Actually I thought about implementing that with the new improvements to be done to the sim. I thought maybe putting a little scroll on the wall like we have our weather broadcast system, where people can click and get basic information about the area they are in.

But at same time, why don't you approach someone and ask? I would prefer if people approached eachother, IC preferably, and ask, "Hey, what are these ruins here?"

What do you folks think? Faceless little notes with info, or emphasize the "talk with people!" attitude?

For one these events, at least for me, seem to just pop up out of the blue. Maybe I'd like to join in this event, but RP can last quite awhile and I'm sure their are a number of people that would like to join but just weren't ready. another issue I bump into is me just not being online at that time and never seeing any event message

We send out notices. We send out notices in advance before the events, we send out notices right before the events, we send out notices during the events. We post messages in the Forums about the events. We make announcements in the Group Chat about events.
People have the habit of simply instantly closing off a notice window, and never seeing what it's about.
The Forums are here and are open for all to see. I think it's going too far for us to set up a mailing list to advertise events, and I suspect people would delete them or never see them if they got caught by their spam filters anyway. And back to the previous statement, the Forums are here for all to see. I check the Forums daily. Why don't you too?

If you have a suggestion on how to get the info out, feel free to elaborate on it, but as far as I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong), we make every reasonable effort to get the word out when there's an event scheduled to take place, about to take place, and while it takes place.

well maybe it's just me, but it just seems like I never get or see anything. I mean I occasionally do. but usually by then it's to late. *shrugs* I don't know how to fix but maybe a mailing list wouldn't be a bad idea. I certainly wouldn't mind receiving an email. In fact I'd love that. especially since my email go right to my phone it rings or vibrates I look and see that tomorrow their is gona be an event. maybe even set up something on the forums so people can say if they are gona be their or not so you know what to expect and can plan better for it.

In regards to the notices....I also personally blame Firestorm on the comment that not many people not see our notices.

Firestorms notice system is horrible and it is something that not only I complain about, but many people complain about it. Notices are near instantly hidden on the screen, you don't even notice them unless you're paying attention and when they are send offline, you have to specifically search for them. This is much unlike Phoenix where notices were slapped in your face in the upper right whenever one got sent out.

I suppose you're right, but the issue I had when I showed up is their was nobody their to talk to. and I'm not saying give the full history, just maybe a little description "Here lies the destroyed city of _____ where the war of ____ occured." and then you walk in their and there is a memorial with a list of names of peoples characters who died. but you know to get the full history you're gona haft to talk to someone or go to a library. And I say both cause chances are at least currently it may be a long time before you run into someone that actually knows and is willing to talk about it, and by then your curiosity is low. *shrugs*

Yes this I agree with, I think I actually brought that up somewhere in my posts. and then I get a pile of post and just spam the x button on them.

Which is what a lot of people do and it is not something we simply can act against or prevent. Sadly said, we can send dozens of notices and only a handful of people may actually notice them. Combine that with the fact that people really don't check the forum anymore it is kind of hard to keep them well informed about our going on's.

*nod nod nods*

Well maybe it's time to change that around and get more people to look at the forums. *shrugs* I mean I really don't know. Perhaps there are many better choices to fix the issue. But right now seems like a good time to start testing different methods and see what works and what doesn't.

In this case i beleive a previous player was at one point being an archiveist, prehaps we can use both? as a saying ive picked up from GW2 "history never lies, historians however.." Prehaps the library can be rebuilt, made a bit more noticable and have an official historian/liberian/archivist etc. That way the scrolls are the "written" history maybe with things that are a little less known, like accounts of the Zenko before the goddess blew it up, so on, things that alot of newer lismorians wouldnt know, whilst at the same time having the curator be the font of knowladge with the bits not said. For example, a scroll could say that the original Missing Key, was burnt down by bandits. The curator however would fill in the rest, about how it was Allura out of trying to get revenge set fire to Jay and burnt it down. Little things like that.

In regards to the events and notices perhaps maybe put up little signs in each main area, City, Zenko, temple, phoenix, similure to the OOC boards of old, which could be updated to say New event soon, check the forums! and maybe if possble when you click it, it links you to the forums, that way, if you didnt get a notice, and dont check forums often, you can at least see somethings due and gives you the kick in the butt to check.

Edit: Also, it might be worth considering making a propor full on OOC area with the Sim admin boards, our rules so on, along with an upcoming events board, i think a ship off the shore of lismore would work. That way, its somewhere people can go and actually check things

Actually, there IS an official librarian, Ani just doesn't play him much. Abbadon is the librarian.

The OOC style signs sound liek a good idea, but will they be too primmy? I find that there's a lot of lore already out there, it's just that people don't really put a lot of effort into looking for it or updating it and prefer to instead complain about the lack of lore and that there should be big huge boards outside every single interesting location.

NO offense to Ani but, prehaps this role should be opened up for those who dont do as much as Ani to apply, i understand wanting a staff member for this role, but Ani does a ton of stuff already and i can see this role slipping down the importance pole in comparison to the other roles he plays.

I think for this if it was to be carried forward, a new role of Curator should be made up where someone with less to do around lismore can apply.

Actually, I can handle it just fine..

Nobody ever said there can't be additional librarians or assistants though. And i've offered the role before, the only thing abbadon is meant to be is the head librarian.

Unfortunately, the reason I don't play him much is because he suffers the fate of alot of craftsmen/noncombatants in lismore - just like most people don't bother trying to procure equipment and repairs ICly, people just seem to know everything they need to, even if there's no part of their background that would justify the knowledge.
