Rituals and Rites
« on: November 02, 2016, 05:52:08 pm »
In a section in the library, there are a few books listing publicly various rituals - at least those that can legally be performed in the empire - which can be used by anyone who has access to the materials, reagents, and potentially the people needed to practice them.

Format:

Ritual Name: (What is your ritual called?)
Ritual Origin/Practicer: (Who facilitates this ritual usually? If nobody does anymore, where did it originate?)
Required Items: (What items are required? As a tip: try to limit available items to things people can acquire through active IC roleplay)
Required People: (What people are needed? As a tip: try to avoid naming specific characters, and instead 'types', such as a priest or druid.)
Ritual Details: (How does it go, and what are the results of the ritual, if any? Keep in mind that any rituals which produce a real, tangible effect must be approved in a card or by staff PRIOR to being listed here.)

Rituals: The stoking of the flame
« Reply #1 on: November 02, 2016, 05:59:14 pm »
Ritual Name: The Stoking of the Flame
Ritual Origin/Practicer: The Steel Isles
Required Items: Steel Isles Passion Insence
Required People: A couple looking to further their relationship, or a married/mated couple looking to reaffirm their love.
Ritual Details: The couple should use a bedroom - at their own home or otherwise - and light the incense on either side of the bed. Passion incense has the effect of reducing mental inhibition, which will have the effect of making the couple much more verbally forthcoming. The couple should dress down as much as they are willing, before they profess their most profound feelings and admissions to one another. If the night ends with passion after these admissions are given, then a potential marriage is considered to be blessed, or a love is considered reaffirmed. (This ritual does not provide any tangible effects to any characters' abilities.)

Rituals: Temple Welcoming Ceremony
« Reply #2 on: November 02, 2016, 06:06:33 pm »
Ritual Name: The temple welcoming ceremony
Ritual Origin/Practicer: Any tribe member, monk/scout or above, performs this ritual when welcoming a new member into the tribe.
Required Items: None
Required People: A member of the temple, monk/scout or above, and the person wishing to join.
Ritual Details: While this ritual is not expressed required - in the event the person joining doesn't feel comfortable with the intimacy - it is often practiced. The member and/or members of the tribe should speak of their love/desire for the one joining, before offering to bind them to the tribal family through an act of passion. Those involved in the ceremony, however many that may be, should then proceed to make love with the one joining, when the act is completed, one has been considered to have been shown deep love to the tribe and returned the affection, making them a part of the tribe. If the potential recruit is not comfortable with that level of intimacy, it is perfectly acceptable for the ritual to be concluded with a hug or kiss.
