Return of Kenneth the Forest Guardian
« on: August 22, 2015, 09:39:35 pm »

Kenneth awoke with a start on what was once the shores of Lismore. He could remember destruction and war, and trying to defend the isle with his magic until he lost consciousness. He had no idea what the war was about. He had remained secluded in the forest for years, deeply depressed and somewhat horrified after the disappearance of Ashtyn and the death of Glasere, both very dear to him and both very powerful. He had not feared death before, having been immortal for more than three thousand years. He had just recently given up his immortality to save the life of the first mortal he had ever loved, Skyfangs the Gatekeeper who also vanished one day.  He not only grieved for the three, but he also became terrified for his life.

But...that was a while ago. He stood on the beach covered in destruction and debris and gazed out over the vast bay where there was once an island. The very air buzzed with the remnants of unthinkably powerful magic and there was no sign of the island having simply sank beneath the waves. There would be far more debris. He knew then that he must find Lismore again. Something or someone of godlike power had moved the island through time and space or beyond. He began to wonder why he had been left behind. Then he realized, he was not of this world. He was practically a fallen angel. He sighed to himself and cast about the island for supplies. Not food. He had no need for food or drink. He may no longer be invulnerable, but he still was not quite a mortal creature. He wondered as he often did if he even has a soul. He shook the thought from his head and steeled his resolve.
He repaired one of the derelict boats and set off for mainland.

Years come and go as he searches the far reaches of the world for anyone who may have the power to find his home. He gets the occasional job. Mercenary, cobbler, cook, soldier, babysitter, all in order to pay for information and magical services. Decades pass. He learns more and more about being mortal. both the pains and the pleasures. He began to develop vices, something he had never had to deal with before. His promiscuous nature devolved into a nymphomanic lust and any sort of intercourse became an obsession Expensive medical herbs helped him forget his troubles from time to time. One day he finally finds what he is looking for, a way home.
Need a hug? :D
