Winter Celebrations
« on: December 09, 2013, 09:14:03 am »
We are going to have Winter Celebrations in Lismore this year. Nothing fancy, just a little something to raise the spirits and bring some warmth that stems from the heart in the middle of the cold of winter. Since Lismore is a melting pot of different cultures and faiths, these celebration are an open canvas, allowing everyone to show a bit of his or her individual cultural background, if they so desire. The event will start with the winter solstice at December 21th and will be around for about a week.

Centerpiece and gathering place will be the new granary, where there will be an open buffet and a presentation of a wide range of our head farmer's delicious brews, be it wine or mead.  In addition, faction leaders will receive letters from Lord Athian inviting them to take part in the celebrations, maybe by performing something for the general public (for example things like a little magic show for the kids and those young-at-heart, a racy dance-number to lift the spirits and more or a scavenger hunt set up by the druids). Of course people outside of the factions are also welcome to offer their skills, so if for example you play an instrument, feel free to grab it and stop by to let us dance to the music. If you are planning something more elaborated, please let us know ahead of time.

Attendance is, of course, by choice. So if the idea of a winter celebration isn't something for your char, no one will force you to join in. That said, we are aiming to have a little something for everyone on most of the Celebration days. Please vote up there what SL times you would be able to join in such events , so that we try and plan accordingly. Feel free to give some feedback and your ideas in this thread.

Thank you! :)

I should be able to get online whenever really (although voted for my workday times just in case the event moves)

Got a few characters who could lend a hand too!

The town is now decorated for the Winter Celebrations. I hope you will enjoy the little change of scenery for the coming week. In the case that I missed a spot or that one of the decorations did show up at the wrong place (like clipping into your bedroom or something), feel free to chat me up anytime or leave me a message here in the forums.

The official opening ceremony at the granary will be after todays Open Court Day event. After that, the granary will remain open for the public for the whole week, serving holiday food, wine, mead and punch. Radem will be around at various times during the week to let you taste his brews and give all interested parties some insight into the process that goes into making these fine beverages. Also don't miss the story hour or Lance and Aryn grabbing their lutes to play you some tunes. Hope to see you there. ^_^

Monday, 23rd of December at 1pm SL time Athian is going to do a little story hour, sharing a tale with whoever is interested to show up at the granary. If others want to tell a story later on, too, they are very much welcome to do so. :)

Lady Relina Harem visited the Winter Celebrations and had a present with her: Three beautiful ice sculptures carved by artisans of the Zenko. They are now standing in the park, for all to see and enjoy. While she was there, she even gave a little performance, using ice magic to show the celebrating people some of the nicer sides of winter. Floating ice spheres danced to the music of Aryn, the cat, playing the lute. So what are you waiting for - make sure to visit around the park and granary today. It is the time to be merry. :)

Event schedule:

Monday, 23rd of December, 1pm SL time:  Story hour with Lord Athian
Wednesday, 25th of December, 1pm SL time: Gather for a story hour with Lord Athian
Wednesday, 25th of December, 3pm SL time: Winter Festival Dance in front of the Granary
Friday, 27th of December, 12pm SL time: High Priest Mariah & the bard Lance will give a performance

More events are probably on the horizon. There is a rumor of the Phoenix folks being up to something naughty for the holidays. ;)
