The Matter of the Fog
« on: July 20, 2021, 09:26:46 pm »
It has come to the attention of the Empire's officials that an Eldritch tome owned by one Padma Vux, kept in the safekeeping of Abbadon, has been stolen and used to enact a catastrophic ritual which has resulted in major consequences both across the Empire, and across the Skylands itself.

The book was in safekeeping until Abbadon reported that the book began destroying magical seals and otherwise defying containment - it was transported to Vheljen's laboratory, which is known as a magically secure location.

The following individuals were invited:

Relina, Headmistress of the Academy

Padma, Artifact Researcher of the Academy, previous owner of the book

Rael Becker, Assistant Artifact Researcher of the Academy

Daliyah, former empress of lismore and magical expert

Kian, prince of Lismore and magical expert

Sometime into deliberation on how to contain the book, Rael Becker suggested wrapping the book in cloth soaked in holy oil to assist with containment. Those present agreed - when Rael approached the book, he used it to enact extraordinarily powerful magic, which he used to repel and subdue all present. He 'absorbed' the book into his chest, before using some form of strange magic to 'meld' into the ground, at which point he was not seen again.

Shortly after, witnesses across the Empire report a great feeling of unease, pockets of misty substance appearing and dissapearing across the Empire, and a flash of light in the distance. Since this time, pockets of mist/fog with tendrils on them have been spotted and appear to, at times, be depositing hostile creatures in public areas. As a result, the Empire, with the exception of the Temple, which seems immune to these fog-pockets, should be deemed unsafe, and it would be advisable for people to remain in groups, and armed and ready for combat.

As of the time of talking, there have been three related fog-attacks, which are, and which all future instances of will be tracked in this document: https://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=2831.0
