A Boring Ritual
« on: February 25, 2012, 12:07:49 am »
(OOC: this information is all conjecture, and isn't approved.)

A scroll written in Pyros and Common, line by line. It writes of a specific ritual to change ordinary quartz into a spell component called Blood Crystal, and details the author's opinion that the ritual is best done with one's own blood rather than the blood of others as the original ritual, written at the top, calls for. It also denotes some parts of the ritual as barbaric and difficult, and then re-writes the ritual at the bottom alongside a warning about the costs blood magic can inflict on the user.

The non-edited ritual is rather disgusting, calling for various things that really are barbaric. The edited ritual is as follows:

"Gather ground quartz in the same quantity as you want crystal in a bowl of stone. Using a knife passed through flame a few times, slice open your palm and let blood drip onto the ground crystal until there is enough to coat it. Heal the wound if necessary. Chant the same incant written above and then seal the bowl with large leaves held down by rocks. Leave the crystal for a few days, then come back and repeat without covering it this time. Strike the crystal with the knife you used, and it should take the offered mana and change.

"The time of blood magic to be considered barbaric and harmful is passed. if you have read this far, please continue in this work to change the worst of these rituals into something far more acceptable."

The scroll is not signed, and the handwriting is not recognizable as anyone important.
