Hello everyone! We're planning out a time for the final event of the crimson/steel isle storyline. This will be a coordinated effort on behalf of lismore, the steel and crimson isles to bring the treasoner Lanzer to justice for his inexcusable crimes of aggression and treason. This will be a difficult, dangerous combat event, but just about anyone would be invited to join Lismore's forces in the final attack. I'm going to be setting up a poll here - we're going to be looking at the WEEK OF THE SIXTH OF APRIL for this event.

Why so far ahead? Well, it's going to be one hell of an event and it's going to be hard to coordinate timezones. I'm going to post a day poll for the week of the 6th first.

PLEASE BE SURE TO VOTE!

Once a day is decided on, i'll start a second poll for a time of day. Understand that you personally may not be able to attend - please understand that this is not by design, but it is because we have many different time zones, and it is simply not possible to include every player in every event as a result.

Okay, Saturday is looking like a good day so far. If anyone who this day of the plot requires either in terms of story or coordination (Aryn, Xela and Bomber) can not possibly make it on saturday at any time, please let me know by IM or by post here.

While I know it is impossible to include everyone due to time zones I do have to ask .. what time is this going down (SLT). As most of you have figured out I get on every night, (About 9PM SLT) except Thursday and Friday, & I stay on until about 4am. So before I cast a vote, is my play time even in the wheel house of playable?

On weekend days I can play if it is after 3 pm SL time. Or before 9 am SL time. So Saturday I could play 1 am - 9 am or after 3 pm.
Heaven starts with a smile :)

As I said in the OP - The time will be decided on with another vote, but unfortunately 9pm is not a workable starting time, since I am in SLT and since this event is likely to last several hours.

Sorry about that. :(

I don't forsee any problems with a time after 3PM.

Okay! I'm calling the day planning here. With 9 votes on saturday it's unlikely it could be any other day. :) The time vote is up.

There's only a very small window because of limitations of staff (especially me) and important characters. Sorry about that! I hope we can still get most of you.

Sorry that the pole closed prematurely everyone. You should be able to vote again, that was my fault.

[14:36] Kaji O Harkin makes his way to the supposed meeting "All set and ready to go"
[14:45] Zeela makes her way from her stall, checking and double checking her equipment, well stocked with healing and manapotions, as well as a few other tricks up her sleeves. She'd then smile to the group, "This is where things boil down to combat, right? Whats the current situation?"
[14:47]  Charon and Anzhelina were standing none too far away from the marketplace portal, both looking quite ready for the fight to come. At Zeela's question, Charon gives at nod ,as he speaks... "We're waiting for the forward forces to drop the portal device in Lanzer's stronghold. It won't be much longer, and from there it'll be our job to persue the enemy officers and Lanzer and end this conflict once and for all."
[14:50] Kaji O Harkin holds a shell in his paw "Well if were going to be sieging the castle, I take it youll need something that packs a punch to blow open the gate?"
[14:51] Zeela considers before she nods and steps forwards, checking herself over, "Its going to be interesting.. first time these portals have been used in combat. But they've been designed for such.. so I cant imagine there will be problems. Exciting though, isnt it?" she comments proudly before looking to Kaji, "Inner gates could do with a few more holes, if what I've read of the plan goes well"
[15:02] Kaji O Harkin places the canister in his pack before he smiles to Zeela "Well ive got 4 canisters. Thats the most I could bring"
[15:06]  Anzhelina remains stoic for now, though the archangel certainly looks ready for a fight. Charon would speak, as he speaks, "It'll be interesting, but be on your guard. It's going to be very dangerous on the other end, Lanzer's loyalists are decent fighters, and there will be plenty of them."
[15:07] Zeela considers for a few moments before nodding, "Right.. thoes will be useful, Kaji.. can they take down walls if combined?" she asks before looking to Charon and smiling, "Do we out number them?"
[15:09] Kaji O Harkin says, "Well one can blast down a door, but it will take a lot...""
[15:16] Charon gives his head an affirmative nod at the question, folding his arms as he speaks, "We do, though not by much. We've got our work cut out for us today." HE says, adding in a critical voice, "We should be ready for them to potentially engage in unexpected or unconventional tactics. Lanzer and many of the officers who defected to his side are quite good with traps and tactics."
[15:18] Gin had been listening in by the well, trying to stay hidden with narrowed eyes.
[15:19] Zeela considers both the reply she gets from Kaji and Charon, before commenting, "Well.. may I suggest we also employ unusual tactics? If possible to get on the roof of a building with foes inside, why not use the explosives to bring the roof down on them to soften up the resistance?" she suggests, "Maybe Anzhelina can help get Kaji in place with her wings"
[15:21] Kaji O Harkin unholsters his pistol and makes some last minute adjustments, though he covers his eyes with the brim of his hat as he looks at his pistol "Hope I can come back to Laura and my son after this..." he mutters to himself
[15:24] Charon speaks softly in response to Zeela... "I agree, but our options will be fairly limited. It wouldn't be wise to go for the roofs, as the barracks will likely will be dotted with archers... The castle, maybe, but it would be a huge risk to Kaji. If Lanzer is at the roof or upper level of the castle..." He says, trailing off, strongly suggesting that the results would not be pleasent.
[15:24] Gin stepped out and looked at the group. "I'm just curious, I have not been around but what is happening?" He asked in a low voice.
[15:26] Grandmaster Anzhelina would nod,  as she speaks... "I can fly a single person into position, but once we're in there it'll be very dangerous to go anywhere in that fortress without a sizable compliment on your tail." She says, before glancing to Gin, and explaining concisely, "We're preparing to besiege the fortress of one of our enemies. Our forces have already engaged their defenses, and we're just waiting for them to drop a portal device in place so that we can flood the interior directly."
[15:26] Athian Hoggard comes marching up to the gathered crowd: "Greetings everyone."
[15:27] Aisling O Luain quietly takes position at Charon's side, just commenting briefly "My troops are positioned around the castle, supporting our allies." She d briefly regard the gathered crowd and then bows slightly. "Blood and Honor."
[15:27] Zeela smiles to Kaji, "I'm sure you will, dont worry." she comments before nodding to Charon, "Understood, of course. Mother mentioned she had some.. observers, in the area, who went dark... so we can assume they are keeping an eye on our movements" she comments before looking to the two approching, giving them a smile, "Greetings, are you ready for battle?" she asks, before eyeing Athian's weapon, "Glad thats on our side!"
[15:29] Kaji O Harkin looks over the others "Well what a sight. This is going to be big guys and gals."
[15:32] Aisling O Luain wears a grim expression. "We cant thank you enough for aiding us in this battle today. But be warned... not all of us will see the end of it. Lanzer is a deadly combatant and a master strategist. I ve served him for a long time, and I know we will have casualties. So... be prepared."
[15:35]  "I certainly hope that everyone is ready, because time to make last minute preparations is upon us. Steady your courage, sharpen your blade, and dig in your resolve, because this will be difficult. But righteousness is with us, the gods spread their wings at our backs, and we will destroy our enemy, rest assured," Emir says, surveying the crowd, standing arms-crossed.
[15:35] Charon dips his head softly to Athian and the others as they arrive. "I'm glad you're all here with us." He looks to Aisling at her words, as he gives his head a nod. "Good. Let's get things rolling, then." He says, before looking out over the group, as several of Lismore's local defenders join those already present, angels, paladins, mercenary fighters from several factions. They didn't bolster the numbers much, but they looked tough. Charon speaks up to be sure everyone in the square could hear him, "I hope you brought your best gear and your courage with you today, everyone. The portal device that will take us to the fortress courtyard will be dropped and activated at any moment. Make no mistake, this will be a deadly engagement, Aurel Lanzer may be a traitor, but he is still a renowned military general, and his loyalists are competent soldiers. Expect solid tactics and fighting skill, and be as prepared as you can for the unexpected. We want everyone here to make it back alive, so while you should give it your  all today, brazen risks will likely cost lives in our efforts today. Aisling will be leading a group directly to the castle, whereas I and Emir will lead groups into the barracks positioned on either side. I don't know what Lanzer has going on in those buildings, but we can't afford to leave them be. Anzhelina will be overseeing the fight in the courtyard while we do our business inside." He says, pausing after the lengthy discussion, before he asks, "Any questions? We don't have long and there won't be time to ask them once we're inside."
[15:36] Gin nodded. "Combat huh? Well I only have my fists... I could try and lend you guys a paw if you like. It has been a while for me after all." Gin noticed other joining them, mostly Athian and that long Sword on his back. "I see..." He paused hearing that some of them may not come back, looking to how armed they were and how he wasn't. Not having fought in some time, the jex began to get a bit of fear for what lies ahead.
[15:36] Athian Hoggard nods at Aisling: "Rather than think of that we should remember all the casulties his actions have cost in the past and would have cost all of us if we hadn't recognized him for what he truly is. It is true, this will neither be easy, nor a victory without cost... but it will save many of those dear to us, all the loyal citizens of three kingdoms, that may live on, because we are taking care of this bad apple today." He looks over to Charon and Aisling: "Are we set on teams by now?"
[15:37] Kaji O Harkin now that he had everything prepared, he loads a canister in the chamber and pulls back the crossbow string "All set"
[15:38] Zeela considers the announcements and speeches, taking a few deep breaths to calm her nerves as logic screams she shouldnt get involved. "I've one question.. where am I to go and follow?" she asks, "My magical and illusion sight may prove useful, but at heart I'm a rogue, rather than frount line fighter" she explains
[15:40] Aisling O Luain nods to Charon, before resting a hand briefly on his shoulder "Do come back from this alive, do you hear me..." she says softly. Then she looks around. "I need experts in close combat fighting. Who are used to fight in narrow corridors and confined spaces. My team will go directly for Lanzer and his officers, so... I need the very best. This is also the team that will most likely bear the highest risk of taking casualties. So I need only the most dedicated for this, who are willing to give their life for this cause. As I said before... Blood and Honor..."
[15:41] Athian Hoggard chuckles: "I don't really like narrow corridors, but I love my fights up close and personal."
[15:43] Kaji O Harkin humms "I can stay outside and take out a good bit of their archers or clear the rooms for ya."
[15:44] Emir chuckles softly. "We would not want to refuse someone a chance at restoring honor lost," he comments after the plan is given. "For my group, I want people who cut down their foes quickly, effectively, and to be candid, ruthlessly. We will accept honorable surrender, but everyone else shall fall; my plan is to cut through the barracks and then make forces available to flank Lanzer, or cut off his retreat. He will not escape again."
[15:47] Zeela considers for a few long moments, before smiling to herself, "I pride myself in quick adaptation, and effective and ruthless use of the surroundings. I think I would follow best under Sir Emir's command" she comments, holding back a comment about Lismorians sticking together
[15:47] Charon would give his head a nod, as he speaks and looks over the group... "Well, let's see..." He says, pondering, before starting to pick the teams out as best he can, "Athian, I think you and me would compliment eachother well in one of the barracks. There's more room to move around in there, less corridors." He says, before nodding to Zeela and Kaji, "You two can head for the other barracks... And the rest should follow Aisling directly into the castle. Each group will be supplemented by friendly soldiers." He says, and just as he finishes suggesting groups, the portal gives a loud hum from behind them, prompting Charon to draw his sword and approach, "It's time!"
[15:48] Gin's ears dropped as he took a step back, Gin knew he was no expert so he would just run in and die a dog's death. "I.. Wantto help but looking at all of you, I'm the rookie here.." He bit down on his lip. "If anything, I can provide first aid to those who are wounded."
[15:50] Aisling O Luain looks around and then eyes the Jex "This is very valuable help, friend. We will need a lot of healers after and during this whole campaign." She looks to Charon then. "Who is left for my group then?"
[15:50] Athian Hoggard reaches out and pats Gin's shoulder: "First aid on a battlefield is a very important task. Besides, it is good to know you are there to have our backs while we fight in the thick of it. Don't worry. Everyone is important in his own way."
[15:51] Kaji O Harkin humms "Well if no one else I can go with Aisling" anyway he waits for the order to go in!
[15:52] Zeela listens and nods, "Yes, sir!" she replies before looking to Kaji and giving him a nod, before looking to Athian and giving him a smile, "Agreed, first aid is a useful thing.. plus I'd like to think there is no pride on the battlefield" she comments, looking to give Gin a smile too
[15:54] Emir nods to Zeela and Kaji. "Very well. And all serve their role on the field. Glory matters little when you end the day impaled on a pike rather than sharing a drink in your tent," he comments. The tall stallion steps forward and rests a hand on Anzhelina's shoulder. "Fly well and strike true," he states softly.
[15:55] Charon would nod to Aisling, as he speaks, "That'll leave Emir with you, and we'll send a lot of these guys from the garrison in with you. I've watched them during the cross training, they're very skilled." He says, a compliment he doesn't give out easily. But he speaks urgently now, as he moves for the portal, "We can't delay any longer. Everyone, move out! Let your blades strike true, and come home alive!"
[15:56] Aisling O Luain calmly draws her blade and stands at the ready!
[15:56] Gin pats his bag (which the player forgot to equip). "Then I'm in, I may not be able to figt head on but I'll tend to any wounds that I can." He grinned up to Athian. "Good thing I have my herbs, bandages, and ointments ready... It'll be field dressing so they may still hurt a bit but it'll get you back up." He says andstood at the read to enter.
[16:13]  The moment the group makes it through the portal, they're beset by Crimson soldiers - the garrison fighters, Charon and Anzhelina strike out hard against the ambushing soldiers, Charon cursing audibly as he shouts to the group, "GET TO THE CASTLE! Me and Anzhelina will lead the garrison out here, the rest of you get in there and take Lanzer down!" He says, in an urgent voice. The garrison fighters quickly manage to push the crimson defenders clear of the staircase, giving Lismore's warriors a clear path inside.
[16:25] Emir curses quietly when of course the plan is immediately dashed. He pauses at the stairs. "Remember your training and follow your orders. Blessings of the Queen upon you," he calls, lifting his sword, which alights in pale blue flame. "The Legion stands Eternal!" he shouts to the Lismore garrison fighters and their allies doing battle outside. "Everyone in!" he reiterates to the group attacking the castle, leaving Aisling to lead the charge while he helps clear the way, intending to assist the outside forces and bring up the rear.
[16:28] Aisling O Luain would immediately engage the forces outside the portal in combat, mercilessly cutting a way to the castle. She pushes away any regrets she may feel by killing some of those soldiers. They wear the Crimson colors, same as she does, and some of them she might have even trained herself. But for now... they were enemies and she has to deal with them accordingly. She is glad that battle vets like herself and battle instructors always hold back some tricks they dont tell the other soldiers, so she made ample use of that and used it to bypass her opponent's defenses. Knowing the training methods if the Crimson soldiers by instinct she also knows particular weaknesses and exploits them. Her own troops she d give commands while charging ahead. "Secure our position, take out shooters on the walls and on the ledges. Keep them from coming after us!" Hearing Charon, she d briefly take a moment to look at him and then say quietly amidst the battle "Dont die, my love..." She then forges ahead up the castle stairs, leaving a bloody path behind her.
[16:30] Kaji O Harkin as soon as he exits the portal, he takes aim for one of the enemy guards and fires out a canister that will burst into a very bright light on impact so he could distract them when they all come in "Surprise!"
[16:31] Zeela would not need telling twice once they arrive to find combat all around them, most likely taking a jab or an arrow to the chest, revealing her chain-mail under her clothing. The feline would dive out the way of more attacks, rolling as she moves towards the steps and up into the building. Looking about, her sight is quickly drawn to the flame sentry over their heads, and she'd waste little time in throwing her arms up and apart in its direction, forming a momentary shield of antimagic between them and it, expecting something magical from it. "Whatever that thing is, its high in magic!" she'd call out, already wanting to know how it works.
[16:32] Athian Hoggard follows the others inside, swinging his blade sideways to make sure the enemies keep their distance as the group passes the stairs leading into Lancer's hideout. Once in the hall, he pants and chuckles softly: "And the old saying keeps ringing true... no plan survives the initial assault. Well, here we are." He tries to get his bearings: "Seems we got ranged units to both sides of the hall... and... what the... can someone tell me what that orb on the pillar is supposed to be? High magic, eh? Never would have guessed, Zeela." He winks at her and gets ready to move.

[16:35] Gin looked around as his ears just fell flat seeing the ambush, upon the order to head into the castle he did so with haste. Keeping low while eyeing threats around him. Seeing that others were so combat ready and he took the roll of the medic, Gin would keep back and let the others fight. Once in the hall however his eyes fixed on what stood in the center. "High magic?" He'd ask and swallowed hard, not the time to get nervous!
[16:40]  The group would be greeted by a mostly empty ground level, the large orb most prevalent as it lights up the hall magnificently with reddish orange hues, once the piled through the door though they would be introduced to the orb's magic. the light of the room flickering as it's transfered entirely into a ball of fire, flung from the orb to violently burst against Zeela's charged antimagic shield. the heat and bright flash may disrupt the group from the two archers who move out from behind the pillar the orb sat upon, arrows already notched, they take aim towards the doorway and loose their arrows towards the group just as they could be seen after the light from the fireball dies down.
[16:44] Emir gets his shield up instinctively as the magic flares, which might well turn out to be a good thing since arrows appear to be inbound. "Ranged!" he says, both a warning and an order to take out the archers.
[16:46] Aisling O Luain would squint her eyes at the blaze of the fire magic but still try to move forward. Hearing Emir`s warning though she d circle to the right to still advance towards one of the archer and at the same time getting out of the way of her own group's ranged combatants.
[16:46] Zeela grimaces as the fire is blocked, "..That! Thats what it does! Get for cover, I cant block that again right away!" she'd call out, diving to her left to avoid arrows that may come her way as she makes for the stairs, "Get upstairs, more cover from that thing!"
[16:50] Kaji O Harkin braces himself for the fire sentry as it hits Zeela's anti-magic spell, but as soon as his sensitive ears pick up the flying arrows, he follows Zeela as he holsters his pistol "Gotta move! Zeela ill cover you" he says as he draws his loaded crossbow
[16:50] Athian Hoggard suppresses a growl as the first arrow swirls past him and quickly settles on the sharpshooter to the left. He moves in, but when carrying his weight around speed isn't his forte, so it takes him a while to get into position. Out of the corner of his eyes he keeps track of the flaming orb above, ready to try and deflect a projective with his blade if necessary.
[16:51] Gin winced and squinted his eyes from the bright flash of the fireball, not even noticing the archers until they had fired. With quick reflexes and the warning that was given he dodged incoming arrows, though they did not appear to have a set target. He was keeping back so not to get tossed head first into battle, though his eyes stayed fixed mostly on the orb while he followed Athian. Getting to cover.
[16:56]  the orb would sit ominously still, only growing in brightness after it's blast, likely preparing for another. the two archers spread out, one headed towards the stairs, the other the other side of the room,  the one away from the stairs notches an arrow surprisingly fast , taking aim at Aisling and firing, though not entirely accurate givin the speed, the archer headed towards the stairs notches his arrow as well, drawing it back and taking careful aim at Athian's midsection, a head pops up from behind the stone wall of the second floor balcony, revealing another archer, arrow already notched, takes aim at Zeela before firing.
[17:01] Emir makes a steady advance since the archers don't seem to be aiming at him, sword and shield up defensively as he readies for another blast for the orb, the paladin making steady progress towards the stairs.
[17:01] Aisling O Luain doesn't waste any time when she sees the archer notch an arrow. Using her armor's masterful design, resembling the scales of a dragon with layered scales, granting good protection and still allowing for fairly good mobility unlike full plate armors, the Warrior General would roll forward to dive under the arrow and come up again kneeling, making a swipe attack with her 2hander against the archer's legs.
[17:02] Zeela keeps running for the steps, yowling out as the arrow fired at her sinks into the back of her upper arm, causing her to shudder in pain, adrenaline forcing her onwards as she pulls a chunk of tass from her belt to start attempting to prepare as she dashes upstairs.
[17:05] Kaji O Harkin follows Zeela through to the upper areas of the castle and once he saw an archer fire at Zeela, he tries to aim over her head and fire a bolt at the archer's head before he tries reloading another bolt
[17:05] Athian Hoggard arrives in range of the archer, the greatsword offering a little edge. He swings the blade in a pattern that is likely to force his opponent to draw back to avoid it, but the wolf is kinda planning on that, hoping to connect with either the man's arm or even the crossbow itself in order to force him into switching to close combat.
[17:08] Gin kept low when the arches started poppin' up like daisies, though it would appear no shorts were aimed at him. None the less he stood at the ready to dodge at the moments notice while he made for the steps. Hearing Zeela yowling in pain he'd look to her, wincing when she tore it out. That was going to be a nasty wound.
[17:14]  the room would brighten and flicker once again as once more, a fireball manifests itself around the orb and is launched at Kaji towards the stairs. The archer aiming at Athian takes the well aimed shot close range as the lumbering wolf strikes, the penalty for not flenching was the loss of his arm, which the guard doesn't take well screaming and going to one knee, the second archer whom has Aisling's attention, slams the steel tipped bow on the ground in front of his legs, the wood of the bow snaps under the attack but stops any damage to his legs. The third archer on the second floor ducks after firing their first shot, the crossbow bolt soaring over their head. As fighters begin to go up teh steps, the would be met around the bending stairwell with two spearmen, spears held out, and jabbed towards anyone coming within reach. a fourth archer pops their head up above the balcony wall much like the third, arrow notched and ready, takes aim at Gin and looses their arrow.
[17:18] Emir sees the results of the attacks on the first floor seem to be going well for the Lismore and allied forces, so he heads up the stairs. "Switch out if you need to," he says, recalling that it's a crossbowman and a light fighter up there, and he readies to push into place with sword and shield if needs be.
[17:18] Aisling O Luain knows she has to join the others again, so she immediately aims the tip of her sword upwards towards the part where the softer layers of the guard's armor joined with the plates, and stabs at it with all her strength, trying to ram her sword into the underbelly of the archer.
[17:19] Zeela flattens her ears as she finds more defenders in the way of her target, the sentry. Knowing backup was on its way behind her she'd stop out of range of the spearmen before thrusting her paws forwards, letting loose a cone of strobing lights and fluxuating sounds into the faces of those at the top of the steps to try and stun them
[17:20] Kaji O Harkin his eyes widen when he saw that fireball and he ducks down to try to avoid it, but it ends up singing his hat which he has to take off "Damnit my hat..." he says as he loads another arrow and takes aim again to fire at one of the sharpshooters
[17:23] Athian Hoggard can't dodge the bolt at that range and growls in a mixture of pain and anger, though thanks to his thick hide it usually takes more than one such hit to stop him. With the archer, now missing one arm, going down to his knees, the Tiwilder would grab the smaller man by the shoulders, his fangs going for the other's neck, trying to end him.
[17:26] Gin did not see the fourth archer on the count of spearmen in his path and jabbing out at him with their spears. The arrow grazed his left shoulder but did not stick, still managing to rip through his flesh nicely. The pain of his shoulder did not stop him due to adrenalin while blood began to run down from the wound, using Zeela's lights if they worked to try and disarm one of the spearmen closest to him and attempted a strike to their neck or head with the weapon. "Kai!"
[17:34]  The two spearmen blocking the top of the stairs do their best to try to keep anyone from reaching the second floor balcony by jabbing at them, Zeela's magic doesn't quite stun them, but making the confined space an even more noisy and confusing mess than it already was, poises the two spearmen to begin tracking down the stairs, jabbing their spears one after the other trying to drive the attacks back down to the ground floor, one of their spears are grabbed by Gin, but the guard had a great grip, he tries to jab forward, but for the moment, can't strike at anyone else// The orb begins to grow in brightness once more, you know what's going to happen once it's bright enough// The bowman now under Athian's mercy doesn't ask for any, but the fear and shrill of agony and absolute terror as his life is ended horrendously was unmistakable// The bowman fighting Aisling tosses the broken bow and reaches for his shortblade while backing away from the wolf, he was too slow however, and stoped in his tracks and gurgles as the large blade is impaled through him.// the bowman who fired their shot at Gin didn't take cover, opting to notch another arrow, the crossbow bolt fired by Kaji jams into his shoulder, he shouts in pain and lesson learned, takes cover.// the fourth archer also on the balcony rises up with a notched arrow, firing once more towards Kaji.

[17:37] Emir is himself slowed down a bit by the jumble of lights since he hadn't expected them, so he doesn't make it quite as far as he'd have liked, and must aim for weapon rather than wielder. He aims an overhand swing of his sword at the spear Gin and the spearman are fighting over, aimed on breaking it, while he moves to stand before the other if Zeela makes way, shield guarding against incoming prods.
[17:39] Aisling O Luain rises and puts one foot against the impaled guard's chest pushing and at the same time pulling, and dislodges her sword again. The blood magic of her enchanted blade soaking up the life essence of the deadly wounded wolf and storing it. A sad expression flickers across her eyes for a moment, but then she hurries towards the stairs to catch up with the others .
[17:39] Zeela scowls as the two spearmen are not stunned as she has hoped, so chooses to add more confusion to the mix, the feline drawing her pistol and taking aim before firing off the shot, aiming for the face of the armed one, while still trying to make sure she was out of the way for the others as they approached. The shot would cause a loud bang and fill the immediate area with smoke as the still primitive firearm fires off, but she hoped it was something the foes may be unfamiliar with and cause them to flinch.
[17:41] Athian Hoggard howls in triumph. After a brief check, making sure his target is indeed eliminated, he glances over to Aisling only to see that her foe has gone down as well. With a satisfied smirk on his muzzle he heads for the stairs as well. These might take the big bad wolf a while, though.
[17:43] Kaji O Harkin stumbles back as he was hit by an arrow, but fortunately the metal zenko symbol protects his body from most of the blow so he readies his aim to return the favor with a bolt of his own quickly "Gonna take more than that!" making way for Emir "Good to see ya made it" he says as he slings his crossbow on his back and draws his pistol again to draw back the string so he could load a force shot that he will save for later. Right now hes going to use the blade part
[17:46] Gin grunted at the grip the spearmen had, dodging the jabs while they fought over the weapon at such a close range. Seeing only chainmail from the looked guarded the groin, Gin aim a swift a hard kick straight to the crotch of the spearmen. If Emir's swing breaks the Speak before his kick landed, Gin would stumble backwards now holding half a spear in his hands. But the loud bang caused by Zeela's firearm made him flinch and grunt, shaking it off.
[17:47] The spearman wrestling with Gin over his spear stumbles as the polearm is broken in half by Emir, reaching for his shortblade, the spearman still jabbing towards the group.. gets shot in the face by zeela, 'nuff said.// the last guard who fired at Kaji takes cover quickly, but the shot in retaliation razes his armor, leaving him unharmed, but also with noone to shoot at while everyone was in the stair well// the orb glows brightly, but doesn't fire..
[17:50] Emir wasn't a stranger to pistols in combat, so when he saw it raised, he readied, but it still caused a flinch as the report echoed in the stone building. Hoping to close the distance before the spearman can get his smaller weapon out, and since there's a handy gap where his faceless comrade has fallen, the paladin moves to the side and aims a swing of his claymore at the spearman's hip, seeking to fell the poor soldier.
[17:51] Aisling O Luain will just wait, blade ready, since the space was already confined and she could not swing or use her 2hander without hitting her allies too.
[17:51] Zeela grins and places her weapon away as it does the job. The way now relativly clear, she'd bring the tass shard she had drawn to her lips, softly muttering a few words to it, before attempting to hop onto the wall next to the large orb, the feline attempting to drive the shard into the top of it, hoping her idea would work.
[17:53] Kaji O Harkin breathes a sigh of relief when he noticed the orb wasnt unleashing fire anymore, but he noticed it was powering up for something "Quickly! Get to the next floor! he shouts as he tries to run up the stairs, slashing at any enemy that tries to stop him
[17:54] Athian Hoggard is still making his way up the stairs, an ordeal that takes him more time than others. If not for the sounds of battle people could hear the big bad wolf pant.
[17:57] Gin was now armed with half a pole arm, shrugging and looking to his wounded shoulder he decided it could be mended later. "That was a bit close and ow my ears..." Gin would look back to Athian, he was still standing which was good. Turning he too would race up the stairs since it was clear. Any enemy that attempted to stop him he'd jab at with the broken weapon.
[18:01]  the last spearman in the stairwell would unsheath their blade, but before putting it to use would be cleaved into by Emir's sword, the stairs were now clear.// The two archers on the second floor balcony both had arrows notched and aimed towards the top of the stairs, one firing at zeela atop the short wall, the other holding their arrow notched and aimed towards the top of the stairs// the orb primmed and ready, unleashes it's fireball at Zeela as well making herself it's only target, but the orb itself was fragile to the tass, breaking it outright once it was jabbed with the crystal
[18:06] Zeela yelps as she is struck in the side by the arrow, her chainmail under layer helping stop the arrow actually piercing, but its enough to cause her to wince and stagger, meaning she cannot avoid the fire as it strikes. Letting out a scream she'd get blasted in the face and chest, knocked into the air to land on her back a few meters away
[18:06] Aurel Lanzer would barely give Kaji a chance to react, one of the feline's swords was sticking in the wood, and the reason why became evident quickly when the feline throws a rope-secured harpoon-like weapon for Kaji's less armored misection, and if the blow landed, him and the soldier next to him give a hard pull, trying to drag the caracal right over to them, Lanzer letting go of the rope after the initial tug, and finally, as the caracal is dragged into range, he'd move to sweep his sword right across Kaji's neck, slitting his throat open before kicking him heartlessly behind their lines, finally drawing his second sword from the ground and lowering himself into a stance, as he speaks coldly to the approaching defenders. "Come and get him, you weak-willed scum."
[18:24]  "Advance together!" Emir warns as he watches people move up the stairs once again. He himself takes stock and recognizes that leaving a pair of soldiers behind the advance, and with Zeela potentially stunned nearby as well, would be a bad thing. A glance back shows reinforcements arriving who can handle the archers, so he darts up the stairs just in time to see Kaji pulled off. Gritting his teeth angrily, he raises his sword and points it... at one of Lanzer's guards, a green streak shooting out at them.
[18:25] Aisling O Luain doesnt know about their first casualty yet, since she is still engaged with the remaining archers on the balcony, and seeing Zeela needing help, she charges at the archers before they can finish the cat off. Lunging at the left one she d bring down her sword in an overhead arc aiming for the head.
[18:28] Athian Hoggard finally arrives at the top of the stairs only to see his work cut out for him. He hurries over to step before Zeela, using his bulk as a shield for her and swinging his blade against the archer on the right.
[18:29] Kaji O Harkin rushes head on upstairs to try to avoid what the orb had in store for them but he is stopped by a harpoon that plunges into his stomach "Gha..." his eyes widen, but he yells out as he is togged towards them "WOAAAAHHH!" then he lands hard on the ground but he still kept hold of his pistol. Once he saw the sword come for his neck, he squeezes the trigger to begin the chain reaction for something that will eventually have a big effect. It only humms softly as the gears start turning as his throat was slit by Aurel, leaving him to ghasp in pain as he looks at the others one last time before he is kicked behind them......
[18:31] Gin once at the next floor with Kaji Gin's eyes went wide in shock, seeing Kaji stuck and dragged over to the enemy where his throat was slit. He had not seen what happened to Zeela, unless called for he stood at the top of the stairwell at the ready. Medic he may be but now his blood was starting to boil and the fight was starting to grow in him. "You pug fug ugly bastard." He cursed at Aurel.
[18:36]  The two guards notch arrows and fire at the advancing group as they make their way up the stairs, the timespan of them being visible in their quick flight up the stairs made them difficult targets to hit, but Aisling and Athian stopping to aid their fallen comrad were easier targets, an arrow is fired at each of them in tern, one from each bowman, before the one Aisling attacks is taken down by said attack, the last one backing up two steps, notching his bow and aiming at Aisling without firing, their once steady aim trembling horribly.// The two honor Guard by Auriel's side stood ready with sword and shield, one of them staggers at the beam of energy fired from Emir, but is quick to take his position once more, adjusting his hold on his shield, waiting to see what Aurel had in store for the intruders.
[18:40] Aurel Lanzer would glare stoically down at those on the stairs, glancing as the beam of light hits one of the guards at his sides, but he'd make it clear just why he wasn't advancing, as the feline reaches to his bandolier, tearing the three potions from the front, and throwing them into the stairwell... The action may seem rather mysterious, but the reason would become clear, when the smell of oil rises from the scattered liquid the feline slowly reaches behind his back, producing a volatile, fiery-looking liquid, readying it to throw next turn. "You may have won this fight, but you won't take a single man in this fort alive, and we will make you bleed for your weakness before the end." But it'd still be another post before he could throw his firebomb.
[18:43]  "Oil! Watch for fire!" Emir shouts as a warning to those in the stairway. He makes sure to step clear of the oil, shield readied. Not one to make it simple though, his horn glows black as he attempts to summon a globe of darkness around the trio of enemies to make the general's throw harder to aim. "You could still die with honor. It is still your choice."
[18:45] Aisling O Luain willingly takes an arrow to the knee... to the side I mean, while dispatching one of the archers. The arrow piercing halfway through her layered scales at the side, making her bleed, blood trickling down her chest and her leg, painting her white fur red. She hisses in pain but seeing the remaining archer already aim that bow at her again, she hopes for two things: That Athian finishes him off quickly enough, or... that her desperate maneuver hits when she grips her sword, raises it over head head and throws it like an oversized dagger at the archer's face.
[18:45] Zeela groans and whimpers after a moment of laying still, her chest, arms and face burnt, but nothing a healer and medical treatment couldn't fix, "A..ahh.. f.fuck, d..did it work, at least?" she'd ask softly as she tries to sit up painfully. Hearing the shout of oil she'd glance to the stairs and would curse
[18:48] Kaji O Harkin the low humming would gradually turn into a louder and louder humm as the canister contained in the chamber was the big one. It saps the energy Kaji had left as it begins to glow brightly and spark with arcs of powerful mana.... If not avoided, the whole pistol will explode, sending out a major blast of force magic at anyone caught within its 10m radius
[18:51] Athian Hoggard managed to bring his blade in position just in time to deflect the incoming arrow after the archer switched targets from the stairwell. With a buzz the arrow zips into a nearby wall. He roars menacingly at the left over archer, closing in and thrusting his greatsword at the man.
[18:52] Gin watched as he threw the potions into the stairwell, it was an odd move but once they broke and he smelled the oil... Gin's eyes grew wide and he quickly looked back to Aurel. Fancy footwork allowed him to avoid stepping into the oil. They had heavy armor and were strong from the looks of things, the Jex narrowed his eyes, hearing groans behind him he would back down the stairs carefully, keeping the enemy in his line of sight while again with fancy footwork to avoid oil.  At the right moment h would turn and head back down. Clearly he was no match for those up here.
[18:57] Aurel Lanzer would blink as his ears suddenly catch the sound behind him, but his vision of the source is obscured, and so the fline is mostly helpless when that blast wave errupts, the feline quickly lets go of the firebomb, but only manages to save his hand, since the force wave would detonate it, setting the feline partway on fire, the force itself knocking him clear into a nearby wall... Remarkably, the fline ends up landing on his feet, though rolls quickly to put out the flame... When he stands, he seems just a little shakey, that impact had clearly caused him some damage, but defiantly, he levels his cold gaze on Emir, dashing forward at what was a slowed, but still frighteningly fast pace, unleashing a volley of mad slashing at the unicorn, trying his best to dispatch the heavily armored warrior before his friends could get upstairs, and before the pain from his new injuries started to catch up with him. He shouts back, in case his warriors were still able to hear him, "Try to keep the bastards from getting in the room. Choke them at the staircase!"
[19:01] Emir staggers from the force of the blast, his darkness spell dropping as well. Intent on creating a gap into which his allies can enter, he takes a step forward... and that's as far as he gets before he's surprised to find Lanzer already on him. He meets one blade and one with his own, but the faster rapier picks away at armor and bites through metal, leaving some bloody streaks in their wake. The paladin's iron constitution keeps him standing, and he counterattacks in turn, aiming to force the cat to give ground or pay the price in wounds.
[19:01]  the last archer gasps and sounds the twing of the last arrow he'll ever fire at Aisling, just as his head and body is stabbed by two different large blades.// The two honor guards stood ready for the warriors at the stairwell, not for the explosion behind them, they too are blasted forward, and have a hard time putting the flames out as the roll in their bulky armor. they are delayed, by not stopped, picking up their things and raising to their feet, they too charge the stairwell
[19:06] Aisling O Luain winces as another arrow bites into her shoulder this time, grimacing at the pain from the arrows stuck in her body. Her fur was more red than white soon enough. Groaning she dislodges her sword from the dead guard's head, then grabs the arrow in her side and pulls it out with a hiss. Using the blood magic of her blade that has drunk some blood, she mends some of the wound, but is still shaken by the blood loss and the arrow still stuck in her shoulder. Panting heavily she nods to Zeela "Good job with the fire sentinel." She d call out then "Medic!" The arriving reinforcements of their own troops she d quickly order around. "Positions on the balcony here, secure the area, make sure anyone hostile entering the entrance hall walks into a death trap." She d nod briefly to Athian "You fight well, friend." She d then turn to the stairs hearing the blast and frowns. Slowly she d approach the stairs and start to make her way up there. Meeting Gin she d motion behind her. "We have some wounded, help out please... Have soldiers secure the balcony here so you can work."
[19:09] Athian Hoggard smiles at Aisling: "Thank you, a compliment I can give right back at you. I always enjoy to see someone skilled with the blade in action. But let us see if we can find the master of this lair, now that we made sure his boys won't shoot us in the backs." And he follows the she-wolf to the stairwell, patting Kian's shoulder in passing: "Please see to Zeela and the others. Good work here, my friend."

[19:11] Gin nodded and ran to Zeela first to start tending to her wounds, taking his pack off and removing a few items. For now the healing would just be simple field dressings, good enough to keep it from infection or bleeding out. Any others whom were wounded Gin would tend to each of them by the severity of their wounds. Trying to keep concentration.
[19:17] Aurel Lanzer would fight against Emir viciously, but sooner or later he had to give way to those counters, he couldn't afford to be wounded more than he already had, and so he retreats, changing his stance noticably, and glaring down the unicorn as he speaks, "There's greater evil out in these clouds than you could ever imagine, Emir. We represented the skylands' one chance at attaining sufficient unity to challenge it, By challenging us, you've doomed the people of the skyland to a loose unity that will break apart the moment the great beast levels it's claws against you.. You have damned us all!"
[19:19]  the two Honor guard would be burned and a little hurt from the blast, but the move to join Aurel's side once more, both raising a shield first with the blades held at their side, end of the blade pointed at Emir, ready to strike or go on the defense depending on who made the next move.
[19:24] Emir aims a kick at Lanzer's closer leg as he retreats, channeling his wounding magic through his unclad hoof. Once the general retreats, the unicorn's horn glows, and the multitude of gashes from the unearthly fast general begin to seal up, the paladin holding his ground with shield and glowing sword ready. "Do not be so foolish as to think us mewling children, Lanzer," the stallion replies. "We have seen our own horrors and will stand against more. Your tyranny and fear-mongering have -never- led to construction of a lasting empire. You should have looked to history rather than your own delusion."
[19:25] Aisling O Luain arrives just in time to hear what Lanzer says, and with a growl she d point her sword at him. "Aurel! Stand down already and end this madness. Nobody else has to die today... your thirst for war has cost us too much already. I will grant you one thing though... by your traitorous act you could not have better united our warring kingdoms, and for that I thank you." There is a pained expression in her eyes as she regards her former friend. Slightly trembling she d ask "Why did you have to do this, Aurel... you damn fool. This is not what we both have fought and bled for. This is madness." She is panting heavily, blood still trickling down her armor and sullying her fur. She d take position next to the paladin, gripping her sword with both hands. She'd eye the body of Kanji for a moment, gritting her teeth.
[19:25] Athian Hoggard makes his way up the staircase but is a lot slower than Aisling and will need a little longer to reach the next floor.
[19:29] Aurel Lanzer would growl angrily at the kick to his leg, he avoided some of the force but not all of it, that damn cat having cost him so much of his normally impressive mobility. He comes to a sliding stop, and growls intensely at Aisling, as he barks out at her angrily, "Do NOT use my name as if we were friends, you traitorous BITCH!" He says, finally showing more emotion, his face twisted in a visage of absolute rage, as he glares to Emir, "You will call me mad until you stare into the eyes of the devil itself, you can NOT know that horror until you have seen it as I have." He says, those words potentially troubling... But the Feline was far from done fighting, moving to toss one of his rapiers up, catching it soundly in his mouth as he tears all five throwing knives from one of his shoudler straps, throwing them haphazardly at the stairway, at least one or two probably managing to make it towards Aisling and Emir themselves, before the feline spits the blade back out into his paw, letting his henchmen buy him some time as he tries to work out what he could do now... He was running out of tricks very quickly.
[19:34]  the two honor guard wait until those knives were thrown, and once they were, they would both charge towards the stairs with shields raised over their faces, only able to peek around it's the rims, one guard swings their blade in a horizontal slash towards Aisling's midsection, the other guard attempting to stab at Emir's torso, attempt to use their size and fierce charge to intemidate or force the two back down the stairs.
[19:37] Emir reaches out, and if allowed, makes contact with Aisling, his horn still glowing as he channels divine power. Regardless of the outcome of that, he gets his shield up, but not before a couple of those blades hit him, one bouncing off armor and one punching through. He growls softly, grateful that he took the chance to heal himself first rather than advance the attack. He leaves the counter banter for Aisling, parrying aside the incoming attack with his blade while setting his hooves solidly to receive the charge, locking shield to shield with the guard to hold ground.
[19:40] Charon shouts: The courtyard is won!
[19:42] Aisling O Luain stares at the display of Lanzer rapidly tumbling into madness and shakes her head sadly. "Then I suppose the friend I once knew died quietly and unknown to me sometime during those years we both served the Crimson Empire. Still, I take no pleasure in this, Aurel. Just know that you could have had so much more than war. But it hollowed you out and consumed you fully, I see that now. So what is left is as it always has been... Blood and Honor, Aurel." When the daggers fly towards them, she d turn sideways to make them glance off her scaled armor. She sighs in relief when she feels the divine magic mending some of her wounds, although the arrow stuck in her shoulder still hurt. Seeing the honor guards advance and hearing Athian's heavy footsteps behind her she knows they cant get locked down at the staircase. The shout from her secret love does give the deciding push for her. She lunges forward between the two advancing guards, rolling over her healthy shoulder and then quickly circling to the side with a ju
[19:42] Aisling O Luain making way for the giant wolf and rearranging the battlefield, her focus mostly on Lanzer now of course, since she was closer to him now.
[19:44] Athian Hoggard arrives at the top of the stairs just in time to watch that athletic display of Aisling: "You go, girl.", he can't help but mutter before his expression turns serious and he engages the guard in front of him, letting his greatsword rain down on that one's defenses several times in a row in a furry of quick strikes, intended to slowly force the man backwards to give Emir and him more space to work.
[19:47] Aurel Lanzer would tremble angrily at Aisling's words, the feline making his last minute decision, quickly darting for one of the balconies... He dissapears, and one might assume he had jumped to his death, but Aisling likely knew better. He had no real advantage left, and he could only pull at straws now as he ascends to the roof, hoping in vain that his guards would weaken enough for the feline to take in his deteriorating condition.
[19:52]  The guard faceing Emir tries to push him back with his shield, trying to force the unicorn down the stairs, the other backs away from the stairs after Aisling rolls between them, then raising his shield to take the bruit force of those attacks from Athian, his shield begining to dent and become deformed under the attacks. The guard struggling with Emir breaks the attack, and swings his blade towards the back of Athian's knee, trying to take the large wolf down.
[19:55] Emir had said he didn't intend for their quarry to escape again, and he meant it. Seeing now he had the advantage of being 1:1 with a guard, and being recently healed other than the wound from the throwing knife, he readied to push his attack and trade wound for wound with the guard... just in time to watch the guard break off. "Right flank!" he warmed the wolf in case Athian didn't see it coming, while his own cocked sword arm loosed one brutal swing at the guard, the divine charged blade leaving a blue arc in its wake as it moved towards the guard, intent on felling him before he could take down the wolf, or at least press a successful attack if one were made.
[19:58] Aisling O Luain is of course very tempted ot rush after Aurel, but she never left a friend behind in battle before and she wont start today! So she rushed forward seeing one guard strike at the big wolf while being attacked by the paladin, and brought her sword down on the attacking honor guard's arm will full force.
[20:01] Athian Hoggard wasn't just blindly following the other guard, quite familiar with the tactic of luring someone into positions. Instead he was making use of the range his sword offered as well as keeping an eye out for the actions of the other foe. "Got it.", he barked back at Emir, thankful that the man had a good eye for these situations, too. He met the other man's steel with his own, defending against the blow.
[20:03] Aurel Lanzer would fall to a knee, letting one sword fall to the ground next to him, as he holds his paw around his midesction, using the other blade to at least keep him standing, closing his eyes as he tries to rack his brain for a way out of this, some way he can play this to his advantage.. But for the first time, nothing came to him.
[20:07]  the guard attacking Athian would have his shield still up, taking the blow from Emir's sword but the holy energy behind the blade did some damage to his hand, the armor they wore was superior, they weren't fast nor strong guards but they could certainly take a beating, as the large blade of the wolfess comes down on his arm it doesn't cut through, but the shock of the attack causes him to drop his own sword. // the guard getting attacked by Athian wouldn't let the advantage just pass by as Athian ceases the attack to protect himself, and stabs his blade towards the big wolfs belly, his shield now useless as a shield, finds a new use as a flying hunk of metal as he tosses it at Aisling's head trying to knock the wolfess down
[20:12] Emir is a no-muss no-fuss sort of combatant and hammers on that shield, letting the guard choose between guarding against his own attacks or, now weaponless, trying to defend against Aisling. He cares little who gets a killing blow, only that one is struck.
[20:12] Aisling O Luain is about to follow up on her attack when she notices out of the corner of her eyes something coming towards her. Only her years of trained battle reflexes make her turn slightly away and raising her arm in defense so the shield doesnt hit her head fully but still with enough force to send her to the floor, groaning. At least the other guard lost his shield that way.
[20:16] Athian Hoggard just swings his sword back after parrying the attack from the side, grunting at the impact but managing to hold his own and slowly turn the situation from defending to advancing again. Especially now that the man got rid of his shield and is forced to meet every strike or suffer the consequences.
[20:20]  Guard one takes a few blows from Emir onto the shield but manages to drop it too after the holy energy on the blade wares down on his hand, stooping down in an attempt to retrieve his own blade he had dropped, only to find the next strike deal real damage and take him to the ground, downed and would die slowly, but not quite dead yet as he curses the combatants.// Guard2 backs away from Athian as he meets those strikes with his own blade, which after the third or fourth, breaks, the sword near the hilt, the next slash would be all it takes to find a weak point in the guards armor, and ends him as well.
[20:22]  "Well done," Emir says simply, leaving those that felled foes to finish them at their choosing, while he moves quickly up the stairs, shield and magic at the ready, since Lanzer has proved himself a tricky combatant thus far.
[20:25] Aisling O Luain would push herself to her feet after a moment, shaking herself. Her head still ringing from the blow, she d tell the advancing reinforcements to secure the floor, while Emir, Athian and her proceeded upstairs to finally face Lanzer for the last time.
[20:29] Athian Hoggard signals Aisling to move ahead as he finishes off the guards, feeling no need to be cruel and turning it into a slow death. Once the gruesome deed is done he follows, slowly making his way up the stairs.
[20:31] Aurel Lanzer would let out a tired-sounding hiss as the others make their way up towards him, not looking too much worse for wear... Before he picks up his blade again, the feline rips his last five knives from his other armband, and throws them towards those coming up the stairs, his accuracy having worsened... But despite his obviously failing strength, he picks up his other blade, moving to stand on his feet, as his tired, but still passionately furious eyes rest on them, and he speaks simply... "Let's get this over with..."
[20:36] Emir sighs, resignation in his bassy voice as he speaks. "You could die with honor, slain by an officer of the army you once held dear. Instead you will make us put you down like a beast gone wild? Which is, make no mistake, what you have become," he says. He looks briefly to the dragons flying in the skies nearby, and grins. "Blessings of the Blue be upon us," he says, and the flame on his sword become crackling lightning. With that, he advances, patient step by patient step.

[20:38] Aisling O Luain would on that distance simply step to the side to dodge the daggers, before slowly following Emir onto the balcony, regarding the feline with a grim expression. "The saddest part about this, Aurel, is that it seems you truly believed to do us a favor by inciting war. But I ve seen your true self, even if it was but a brief moment, at our last talk in your office. And that is why I know you have become your worst enemy." She nods in agreement to Emir's words. "Die with honor by the law of the nation you once served, or force us to put you down like a rabid dog."
[20:42] Athian Hoggard arrives at the top of the stairwell, careful not to trip over some daggers lying around the upper stairs.  He follows the sounds of the others, calling out: "Enough with the hiding and running away scheme. Man up and face your end the way your people are supposed to live: By blood and honor!"
[20:44] Aurel Lanzer would snort out to those who approached him, as he speaks, "My warnings fell on deaf ears, had you taken them seriously you'd be fighting at my side... But now that your ignorance has lead you against me, you come here ready to die for your beliefs, and have the audacity to expect me to do anything less?" He says, licking around his muzzle, his normally slicked hair was frayed in all directions, the once stoic looking feline looked completely broken down... And dangerous. That danger manifested itself rather suddenly, the feline jumping from looking broken and defeated to a flurry of lethal blades in an instant, as he leaps into action, charging right between Emir and Aisling, almost seeming to invite death, but not giving into it easily as the feline taps into the very last of his strength, his blades rapidly and skillfully striking at both of them, noting Athian's approach as well as he can as Lanzer tries to wind his body agilly around any returned blows, also careful to try and not let his own blades touch Emir's, the electrical enchantment not escaping his attention.
[20:47] Emir gets his shield up and uses the ground to his advantage; now that he's not holding a line, he's a -much- more active fighter, light on his hooves for someone his size. Lanzer's blades clang off his shield but also bite into steel and flesh, all the while the equine holding his sword like a scorpion's tail. He waits, ever patient, grimacing as pain grows and the blood flows, until that one moment he thinks the cat has overextended even a little in his attempt to engage too many foes, and then it's the paladin's turn to strike, the long blade flashing in fast arcs, its wielder trading strength for speed, relying on the lightning to make up the damage.
[20:49] Aisling O Luain growls as she sees Aurel burst into action. But her patience has long gone and now she lets her anger and pain about his betrayal, both as her friend and as her commanding officer, take over and fuel her with new strength. This time it would be a different spar... since she knew him she also knows that engaging him on his terms and the way he fought would be foolish. Coincidentally she d use just the opposite approach than Emir. So she puts her counter style against the graceful feline by abusing her thick armor and sturdy condition to take some slashes willingly, in order to tackle him straight on, ramming a shoulder into the feline's body to knock him down, using her blade to deflect some of his blows.
[20:50] Athian Hoggard comes closer, already moving his blade about to gain some momentum to finally bring it down with a mighty strike once he gets into range. There is nothing quick, hidden or subtle about this, just raw force channeled through the two-hander. It is the kind of strike you either want to evade by quickly moving out of it's path or you would have to put up quite a lot of strength and skill to withstand it with shields, let alone just the steel in your paws. A feral snarl escapes Athian's muzzle, his eyes hard and fixed on the man they have been hunting all day.
[20:54] Aurel Lanzer would not let up those aggressive, chaotic slashes for a moment, or not willingly, at least. He had little choice though, Aisling's tackle was the first thing to throw him off balance, and though he catches Emir's blade with his own when it swings, that electricity slows him down further... And finally, all that Lanzer can do by the time Athian's sword is on him is cross his blades infront of him, which only prevents him from instant death, but the force of the blow knocks him clean off his paws, shattering the steel blades in his paws, some of the razor-sharp pieces burying themselves in the feline's chest. He lets out a very real cry of pain, possibly even the first Aisling's ever heard him make, as his broken form slams hard into the ground, bouncing slightly and hitting it once more, before he slides to a stop, the feline's form perforated by his own broken metal, and injured beyond repair from all the blows he's taken otherwise... He opens his paws slowly, letting the broken sword handles roll out of his hands, as he starts taking in slow, ragged breaths...
[21:00] Charon would finally make his way up the stairs, the wolf looking like he's been in one hell of a fight down below, as well... He doesn't say anything when he sees the state of the scene he's arrived in, however, merely observing their enemy's final moments.
[21:00]  "Think," Emir says softly as he moves forward, weapons still at the ready, but it seems clear he's not going to deliver the killing blow, glancing at Aisling. "Think now, on all the darkness you have caused your people. Were it up to me, you would not die until you knew every bit of that pain and suffering you had visited upon them. And you might even thank me, for I would be doing you a service before you meet your maker and are judged. Judgment has come, Aurel Lanzer. Make yourself ready."
[21:01] Aisling O Luain would see him fall by their combined efforts and approach slowly, her body hurting and bleeding from the numerous slashes she took from his blades. She d point to tip of her sword at him, more a ritualistic gesture than meant as a threat to the dying man. She thought she had some wise words like Emir to say in this moment; a moment she had already pictured it in her mind so many times, but now that she is standing over the feline's broken form, her thoughts are empty. She feels something wet run down her cheeks, and it isnt blood. "Aurel, you damn fool..." is all she can whisper.
[21:04] Athian Hoggard keeps his distance, watching the scene. There is nothing he could say to the man that is about to pass away. He leaves him to the mercy of his countrymen, remaining vigilant in case there are still stray enemies roaming around, although he is pretty certain the battle is over.
[21:07] Aurel Lanzer would cough up plenty of blood before he speaks, his glare first on Emir, "It is you who will be judged for your weakness in the end... Perhaps you might prove we were wrong, but I doubt it." He says, slowly moving to glance up to Aisling for a long moment, before he speaks... "I would have no regrets... About what i've done... If it hadn't caused you such pain." He says, and he slowly moved to reach his paw up, attempting to grab onto any part of her upper clothing, as he harmlessly tries to draw her further down, and growling out at her... "If I am a traitor, Aisling, then..." He says, coughing once more, before glaring intensely into her eyes, "Then stop your crying and do your duty."
[21:08] Charon would frown softly as he observes, he had every right to regard Lanzer with nothing less than passionate hate, but he still took no pleasure in watching this scene unfold.
[21:11] Emir glances over at the sight of motion, giving Charon a nod, and a little lift of his shield in salute, before his eyes go back to Lanzer. "As I stand here, let the gods bear witness, and may they judge both of us for our deeds." He just smiles. "I stand ever ready for it under the vigil of my Queen. Hold your eyes open, for this journey ends and something much more arduous awaits you."
[21:16] Aisling O Luain would be quite shaken by his last words, and while leaning over him, she d meet his eyes with hers, despite the tears the iron will and resolve he knew from her still very much present, maybe even more so than before. She then says calmly "I've known you as friend, as lover and as brother in arms, Aurel. You died for what you believed in, and even though it led to an act of treason, I cannot fault you for that. But... you know our customs and laws, and this is why I will grant you the honor of dying by the hands of a friend. And the new General of our nation's army, a nation I will protect to the best of my abilities." A heavy sigh escapes her lips as she grips the hilt of her sword with both hands, having the blade point downwards. "Sleep well, Aurel. And a good journey to you..." And then she d bring down the blade with all her might, burying it in his chest and piercing his heart. Such was the force that the tip of the blade collided with the stone tiles below him.
[21:17] Athian Hoggard silently whispers a prayer for the departing soul, his face grim and serious.
[21:19] Aurel Lanzer would not blink or even flinch as Aisling speaks, and finally delivers that blow...  If nothing else, the feline meets death with little fear in his eyes, his grip on Aisling slowly weakening as his life quickly fades from his body, before the treasonous general finally goes limp and lifeless.
