Radem has set up a ward at the farm, to prevent demons from entering the stables where the animals reside. And since with Radem if something is worth doing, then it's worth overdoing, he went for the super-delux mega maximum anti-demon divine ward he could get! (the
super-delux mega maximum platinum edition would additionally make demons burst into flames but Radem couldn't get that kind of favor from his goddess yet)
The ward is of a divine nature, so magic defenses and other such abilities provide no quarter from it. The ward is not 'holy magic', it's a step above from that.
Anyone who is a demon (whether they have their demon side sealed or not) or has demon blood, or is currently tainted or corrupted by a demon, they simply can not enter the stables. The rest of the farm is perfectly fine. They are just incapable of moving into the stables. Should they be forced there against their will, they would be stuck at the threshold. Since the ward is to keep demons from doing harm in the stables, anything cast by a demon (or tainted by one) simply fizzles in that area so a demon can not affect anything inside the stables area either.
Upon approaching the stables area, a demon would have the innate feeling that that area was simply off limits. They should be as discouraged from approaching as a person should be discourage from approaching a lake of glowing radioactive fluid with a skull and crossbones sign on it that reads "
Keep out! Danger of death!".
Interesting cases:
- None of the Vances, Valentines or Valiants, foxramau or fenramau, can go down into the stables.
- Amon Valentine has had his demon side sealed, but he is still a demon. He can not enter the stables.
- Yuna Fu Sheng doesn't even register in the radar as a demon, she was cleansed of such while in her mother's womb by Zepira, but she has Edhel's blood, so she would simply feel not at all inclined to go into the stables, in a subconscious level. If she goes in, she would feel inclined to leave right away without touching anything and it would take an extremely good motivation to remain there.
- Solrin the fennec escort can't enter the stables if he's recently bedded a demon (such as Anthony) and hasn't been cleansed by a priest.
- Rosie is a half-demon. She can't go there.
- Anthony Vance's immunity to holy doesn't help him here, he's a demon, he can't go into the stables.
