Rental Properties in Lismore
« on: January 06, 2013, 03:09:23 am »
So! One of the features the new layout of the sim allows us to have is homes for rent for our players' characters!
We are in the process of setting everything up, from locations to rent boxes, but the first and foremost question is one I want everybody's opinions on, to have an idea of which direction to go!

...and the magic question is....

How many prims do you think we should make available per rental?

Nevermind the cost for now, we need first to know how many prims people think would be ideal to have set aside first of all, and from there we can think about prices.

(for those who need a "give me a number to start with", I guess options would be... 20? 50? 75? 100?)
Please let me know what you think!  :)

I think 120 prims for large houses & 60-70 prims for smaller ones should be more than sufficient. Don't want to keep the prim count too low, or it gets difficult to furnish the homes to look 'authentic'.

For small houses I think 20-30 prims is more than enough. And for larger places, 60-80 :D

I think both Nova and I at least know just how much you can squeeze out of low prim limits ;) Just got to make sure you shop at Sculpty Works!

Alright, we're settling then for 100 prims for the 'large' spaces, and 50 for the smaller ones. Also we have decided on the exorbitant number of L$5 per prim, per week, for the rentals (meaning that if you rent a 100-prims space, you pay L$500/week).

Now before anyone freaks out, let me point out that the money collected from the rentals will go into the tier fund. Nobody will pocket a single L$ from it, it all goes to help pay the sim's tier. So we're not making any money from this.

Also, our prims in Lismore are EXTREMELY VALUABLE. Every single one counts when we put down something in the sim, so we can't afford to be competitive in these prices, the idea is not to just give away sim resources just to fill up rentals, the idea is to offer spaces in the sim for people's characters in exchange for their help, and cheap rentals are really mere drops in the huge bucket of SL tier cost.

(I hate all this money talk. We'd do it for free if LL gave us land for free  ;) )
