Kun Qalasi / Re: Slave Papers
« on: August 20, 2023, 02:15:48 am »
This certificate confirms that the lioness known as ABBY, a small framed female lion of traditional beige/tan color, has been made into a slave, belonging now to King Senusnet.

-The lioness slave Abby has been leased to Iua the scribe.

-The lioness slave Abby has been removed from serving Iua the scribe due to transgressions on her part, and put into custody of the Guild.

Kun Qalasi / Kun Qalasi Calendar (ancient Egyptian calendar)
« on: May 22, 2022, 02:39:25 am »
Below is a calendar indicating special dates for the Qalasians. It's a shameless copy from an ancient Egyptian calendar. The fennecs followed it more-or-less loosely, except the dates highlighted, those were events/festivities strictly observed, with descriptions at the bottom.

General Discussion / THE GREAT REFIT HAS BEGUN!
« on: December 27, 2021, 10:19:40 pm »
We have started moving things around for the refit of the RP. The 'main area' is right now under construction.

For those RPing at the Qalasian desert, the portal to Lismore there would have suddenly and mysteriously shut down, and all attempts to re-open it have failed. The scholars are investigating the problem, but any Lismorean character there is to be considered stuck in the desert.

We will keep people informed of the refit project in notices and in the forums.

General Discussion / 2022 CHANGES TO THE RP!
« on: December 20, 2021, 10:49:50 pm »
Hey folks! After quite a while with the familiar setting on the main floating islands in the RP, some big changes are now coming, and here's a summarized explanation of what's going on, both IC and OOC!

In short, OOC, we are tearing down the floating islands and moving the RP to islands on the sea. The current Lismorean civilization will practically disappear, victim of an apocalyptic cataclysm that will change everything! ...if you have anything rezzed on the RP areas right now and want to pick it up so it doesn't get auto-returned, now is the time to do it!  ;)

In its place, islands at the seas will become the main RP areas. There will be a main island with a quaint medieval city on it and a vast underground community, and an island mostly with forests. The cultural aspects of the whole thing will be elaborated upon in more depth later once we're done with all the building.

The fennecs' desert and Kun Qalasi will remain unchanged in regards to the rebuilding of the RP.

IC, after years of fighting the enemy known ominously as The Fog, the dimension where Lismore existed will disappear. Where did it go? That's a mystery to be solved in the RP if you like! Just like that, they will blink out of existence. The portal they had connecting Lismore to Kun Qalasi will collapse, and couldn't be re-opened despite people's best efforts. ...which means any Lismoreans who were visiting the desert will be spared from going byebye with the rest of the place.

Some other Lismoreans will escape the event through other means/explanations so don't feel tied to that one as the only way out if you don't want your characters to disappear. There's plenty of room for imagination.

So, to install the new location and have it all built, we will temporarily move the entry point to the desert, which will remain active for RP in the meantime. If you need assistance coming up with ideas for why your character would be there, contact some of us in the staff and we'll gladly help.

The main RP area will be closed this coming Thursday, December 23, 2021, and installation process of the new main RP area will begin and if all goes well should take about a week to have it all set up, but we have no timeframe yet on when it will be open for RP yet because that depends on a lot of factors, but with some luck, it should be good to go on the first week or so of January 2022.

Have any questions, any comments, please post them below!

Kun Qalasi / The Oasis Project
« on: September 13, 2021, 04:39:12 pm »
By order of King Senusnet, a project to create an oasis in the desert was set under way. Initially, a small scale experiment was done, to assess the viability and work out the kinks of the plan.

The experimental oasis was filled with 'star water', conjured by the king's ramaus, and plants were planted in the surrounding areas, some treated with magical properties to accelerate their growth, others left to grow naturally, and observations were made for many months. During that time, one of the members of the project, the fennec Nebt-het, was overcome by a fit of madness and tried to destroy the experiment, but she was swiftly dealt with. Once it was concluded that the experiment was viable, the king authorized the next step of the project, moving it to full scale at its intended location within the enclosure of the caravanserai.

In the caravanserai, a very large hole was dug for the oasis' lake, lined with rocks and clay to increase water retention, and then through the conjuring of portals, the lake was filled with water from the Nile river. The occasion wasn't without incidents, with three hippopotamuses accidentally coming through the portal as well, one of which rampaged through the caravanserai and caused the death of one guard who valiantly attacked the beast.

A great feast (with hippo meat) was held in honor of the fallen guardsman, and to celebrate the filling of the lake, which would require regular re-filling for a while until the water reached sufficient saturation levels on the ground, however, occasional re-filling would still be required to account for evaporation and water usage and seepage that would cause the levels to drop over time.

The next phase of the project consists of establishing plant life in the oasis area, and in the future, potential expansion for farm land.

Osman presented the minotaur's skull to the fennec king Senusnet, who then had it mounted on the wall as a trophy, and then temporarily mounted on an outside wall where everyone can see and be proud of the achievement of their warriors!

Events / Re: World of Fog
« on: July 20, 2021, 11:31:01 pm »
Having got some initial reports on the incident, Empress Ariel dispatched emissaries to all corners of the Empire and neighboring realms, to assess whether they have experienced any effects in their territory as well or if it was something localized in the main Lismorean cluster.

(Azura specifically would be sent to New Eden to check on their status there. Anyone who wants to play an emissary checking out on the other territories please feel free to, just make sure to write a report back)

General Discussion / Happy Birthday to Lismore!
« on: July 01, 2021, 12:40:23 pm »
Guess what time of the year it is!

It's Lismore's 13th birthday! Woohoo!

Not bad for a place that runs on a shoestring budget and kicks out troublemakers (which let's be honest make up most of the population) at the rates we do!  ;)

So to all those who have been with us, for however long they have been, I thank you all for your company and friendship and for the RPs we've had so far!

Happy 13th birthday, Lismore!

News / Chocolate Hijack
« on: April 23, 2021, 10:40:50 pm »
Word would reach Lismore that the Qalasian fennecs now offer cocoa beans for significantly cheaper than the previous merchants did.
The Qalasians have reportedly established portal-based trade routes with the source of the beans, undercutting other merchants who had to transport the commodity by ship across vast oceans.
This brings forth the promise of a significantly cheaper cost for chocolate in Lismore, but also has angered merchants who previously had stakes on the product.

Kun Qalasi / sweet, sweet chocolate!
« on: April 23, 2021, 10:40:10 pm »
King Senusnet announced to his people, and respective business partners, that they have now established portal-based trading routes with cocoa bean planters from the Mayan Empire.
A portal into the Mayans' land would be opened once a month, for traders to conduct their business and bring to Kun Qalasi the previous month's harvest of beans, to be sold in the markets.
This new trade deal would provide the extremely precious cocoa beans at a significantly cheaper cost than previously, where it had to be transported by ships, across oceans, at great expense.
Qalasian merchants are to discuss new trade deals with Lismorean buyers, one of the biggest market for the pricy delicacy.
