Title: Suggestion: Facebook Page
Post by: fawn on September 23, 2012, 02:01:59 am
Why not start a facebook page or group for the members of the Lismore Community who are on Facebook?

Potential advantages:

* Build the community
* Encourage people to talk and make friendships in real life
* Attract our friends to play on Lismore
* Transcend the limitations of SL
* Oh yeah, and an easier way to let people know if you're sick, on holidays, offline, having a baby, visiting a particular Con or city...

What does everyone else think?

I think a lot of people are going to be leery about exposing any RL info to a bunch of crazy furries.

G+ maybe?

Personally, I don't use or like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or whatever the flavor-of-the-month social networks are.

But I do acknowledge their power!

So if we find that people like the idea, we could Ok it for someone to create an official Lismore page thingie. I will remain neutral on this matter unless we need a tie-breaker.

I personally would not use the page. I'm somewhat paranoid, and as a result none of my RL friends (excluding those I met through SL) know that I play SL and at Lismore.

I'll join the no party.

Second Life isn't called Second Life for nothing, it is so that people can be away from their real life and not have to deal with it at that moment. While it's true that people on SL tend to gain friendships that extend into RL information, it is by their own choice and with friends who share similar ideals and what not.

Facebook is a RL thing with most people having close friends and family in their lists....to which I am sure most people don't reveal to their family that they're a furry doing furry stuff in a furry sim :P
