Note: Most of the information in this first post is IC, and all the reports in following posts are IC knowledge.
Hi everyone! You might be wondering what that post was about - for the last few days, we in Lismore's staff have been plotting out and putting in motion an event that has, as of this time, permanently changed he setting of the sim.
There has always been a massive layer of fog across the lower levels of the skylands - it was scarcely visited due to the dangerous magical anomalies and deadly, ancient creatures found within, but the fog-line, as it's called, was very consistent across the whole plane.
As of this time, a powerful eldritch tome has been stolen, and a terrible ritual has been conducted - the fog is now permanently under the control of an Azothothian cult leader named Rael Becker. The fogline will now occasionally rise high enough to submerge entire islands and empires, temporarily subjecting them to the dangers of the fog-world on occasion.
In addition, there will be 'pockets' of fog influence that appear in the area - some are temporary and can be purged, some cannot be. We hope that this will lead to a setting that feels more desperate and dangerous!
If you have questions, please IM me (Ani Aunerfal) or Aryn (Cylliano Dreamscape) inworld.
Enjoy! <3

Reports (7/20/2021)
A strange, skull-headed woman with a large hammer emerged from the beach and attacked several individuals, including Saduza of Yuna's compliment and Ausar. Interestingly, unlike all other instances, it was possible to reduce and terminate aggression with the woman, who is now under watch but not imprisoned.
An attack was reported in the intersection of road between Fennecia of the Temple, visiting italian official High Templar Ludovica and her templar escorts were assaulted by an unknown knight and mage. The templar guards were badly wounded, before Azura responded and assisted in the rescue of all present.
An attack was reported in the outer areas of the High Garden Forest. one temple scout was severely injured, assisting warrior Morzan and rawrbites member Hunter Valentine assisted in the dispatching of the assailants, three 'fog ghosts' that appeared to be normally receptive to and capable of dealing physical damage.
-
Having got some initial reports on the incident, Empress Ariel dispatched emissaries to all corners of the Empire and neighboring realms, to assess whether they have experienced any effects in their territory as well or if it was something localized in the main Lismorean cluster.
(Azura specifically would be sent to New Eden to check on their status there. Anyone who wants to play an emissary checking out on the other territories please feel free to, just make sure to write a report back)

Reports 7/21/2021
A portal and a hulking creature were found at about the mid-level of the high-end apartment tower. Eir, Tamos, Slate and Azura responded. The creature was destroyed, but the portal will require a great deal of effort to re-seal permenantly. Eidinea Vance was found severely wounded in her room and was removed and transported to the temple.
Miss Laila Turner was found trapped in her home, restrained and injured by a large, robed creature. She was rescued through the efforts of Lucient, Miriamella, Ellen and Kabir, and was taken to heal at the temple, and then to recover at House Nephalem.

Reports (7/22/2021)
The alchemist dragon Twilus reported an incursion in the mines on High Garden, where there seems to be various spots the corruption has seeped into. With the assistance of the Fae Qui, Twilus purged one of the tentacle infested areas through the use of alchemical fire and lightning magic. Caution is advised entering the mines right now, as it seems to have become a hotspot for the fog invaders.

Reports 7/22/2021
A group consisting of Ascari, Jendayi, Lucient, Alyndra and Navaru responded to the apartments in the city. It was determined that an eldritch growth had formed in the bottom room, unfortunately resulting the death of it's resident and the dissapearance of Rena, another resident who responded to the scene earlier. The corruption was purged and all residents were evacuated.
-
Addition to the case of the missing person:
Since a missing person was reported to the city guard, investigations were able to correlate that case and the incident at the apartment complex, so that it is now known that the blind woman that had gone missing in the infested room was Rena Rose, who has a brother and a mother living in Lismore, and is also affiliated with the Harem family. Current conclusions point at a capture by the enemy. Rescue missions are not possible right now due to a lack of intel about the invaders and where they are located within the fog.

Reports 7/26/2021
Ciro and Amalia Solis were assaulted by powerful, demon-like creature at the beach. Yuna, Zyra and Lucient responded to assist - all injured parties were escorted to the temple and have been treated successfully.
-
Reports 7/27/2021
Duhain, Sefu and Navaru responded to the presence of the portal discovered during a previous incident at the apartment tower - the portal was successfully closed, an an important material for mental resistance training was recovered.
-
Reports 7/30/2021
Sha-Khet mercenaries Lucient, Salamander, Ellen and Mase responded to an attack by a tall fog-being and a large number of minions at the beach, assisted by Renegades warrior Roxie and royal guard Azura. Defending forces received multiple injuries but no fatalities, and the creature was destroyed. It was noted that the fog on the beach has not receded following the defeat of this large creature.

Reports 8/3/2021
The necromancer Navaru reported to the guard that with the help of the dragon alchemist and sorcerer Twilus, and a wild gryphon called Vrinpict, they managed to locate the main source of the corruption near the beach of Lismore City. It had been hidden below the waterfalls on a ledge. Sadly they caught the attention of the enemy, during which the gryphon was lost to the enemy and dragged into the rift portal, while Twilus managed to escape wounded, but also capturing the dead body of one of the cultists they had found there. Azura of the Lismore Guard was present for the investigation afterwards. It was decided then to prepare an airship assault on the remaining incursion, as quickly as possible.
While Azura and Twilus scouted and watched the cultists, the Banshee Queen was called in to assist with a decisive broad side from its twin cannons, which obliterated the remaining cultists and took care of that threat. The gryphon remains lost though, and is assumed to be either dead or turned against Lismore, so caution is advised should anyone see him again.

report 8/3/21 Kain Harem
A tentacle appeared at the entrance of new eden near the workshop market district. Alvin Kouski was spotted by a creature named Terra being grabbed by the tentacle and slammed on the ground. Alvin sustained damage to his chin, chest and nose from this incident. He was freed by Terra but was attacked by a corrupted griffin and sustained serious scratch wounds to his back. I managed to chase off the griffin with Terra's help but was unable to capture.
I will be sending out a patrol later today.

Report by Sefu the Wizard ((August 5th, '21)):
<Report is made with very aggressively drawn handwriting>
Investigated fog presence in the Lismorean mines together with the dragon Twilus. Proceeded to be attacked by a griffin with glowing bits, which Twilus appeared to recognise as Vinpict or whatever the fuck the name was. I know him as Kheperu. This was apparently the grifter friend that Twilus lost in a previous attack, who has come back.
Seems to be confirming my theory that the fog creatures, lacking genitals and being largely sexually indistinct, reproduce by way of assimilation.
Capture was attempted, but ultimately failed. Griffin escaped back to the fog after getting its fucking dick carved to bits. He tore up my face! Tried to rape Twilus, who almost died from the incident.

Report 8/5/21 (will arrive later due to Kain's condition) Kain Harem
Guard report: Investigated the tendrils again near the entrance to new eden.. This time it seemed more active... The fog that seeped from it had a chilling feel of a thousand little freezing hands pulling at my feet. Bryce and I ventured further in and the fog rose above our heads and that same chilling feeling was there.. I could see faces in the fog that were whispering for me to just give in and all suffering would end well ive got a wife and family to return to so no way i'd ever listen to that. I used a wind spell to force the fog away after I felt a tentacle on my foot and heard a hideous voice, only for my blade to hit the carpace of what looked oddly like a bug creature similar to those that the renegades have yet it looked more alien. This creature definitely didnt seem to be made from the fog but it seemed like it was teleported here by it. The creature had around 4 arm claws, one of them struck me in the shoulder and dug rather deep, im lucky Bryce and a cheetah woman were there because I could barely handle it after the initial moment of surprise where the creature was right in my face. It had a hardened carpace and still bled greenish blood which might be unusual for something that came out of the fog. Both Bryce and the cheetah woman weakened the creature to the point I could use a wind spell to propel myself and knock the creature over the ledge. Unfortunately I will be incapacitated for a while.

Report 08/10/21, Sefu
Went back to the mines we were attacked in and successfully dismembered a tentacle. Discovered the area contained residual energies from previous rituals, employed that and a sizable selection of tass to dispel the mist for the time being. Unsure if it will return.
Tentacle sample has been brought to the LIAA where it remains for study. Preliminary investigations have yielded little of interest. Sample is being conserved through magical means to prevent decay.
New progress made on the matter of the fog invasion on the whole; theoretically possible to force the fog to withdraw with access to enough energy. Must needs consult with high level mages to discuss options.

In order to put in place a means for certain individuals to train their minds to resist eldritch influence, I am hereby requesting that Lismore's defenders secure a live fog-creature. The following specifications would entail an ideal specimen;
- The creature should be of a directly eldritch nature
- The creature should be moderate in size, preferably at or around the size of a humanoid.
- The creature should, ideally, be relatively strong in it's ability to affect the comfort and fear of those in it's proximity.
- The creature should not be quite so powerful that it cannot be contained.
Regular means of restraint will work until it can be transported to the laboratory in Cruentus Tower, at which point I will properly secure and imprison the creature.

Report: Ricardo Solis 8/13/21
Subject: Corrupted Griffon
Note: Twilus' trap worked rather well in catching the griffin but it required my help and the help of another mage to bring him down. I've been wounded by his horn but I will be ok.

Reports 8/18/2021
While on a rescue mission to the Veiled Kingdom, and island that is known to sink beneath the fogline at night, while attempting to rescue fleeing citizens from the overcome island - hours ticked by and it became night during the rescue effort, and shortly after the fogline rose, the skycutter, fleeing Veiled citizens and Charon's elite dragonriders came under massive attack. The Skycutter was nearly destroyed and had to flee with those it could rescue, and General Charon and Captain Collie Madfang were greivously wounded.
The skycutter is heavily damage and it will likely be some time before it will be flight-worthy again.
While they have recovered and many Veiled Kingdom citizens were rescued, it is the crown's order that all currently planned expeditions and all future expeditions should be, for the time, being, cancelled. Until the reason for the mass-scale attack and a countermeasure can be developed, it is UNSAFE for any exploration of the fogline to be done.

Addition to Report: Ricardo Solis 8/13/21
The captured corrupted griffin called Lucky was brought to the Renegade Fortress of Iron Sands, where an attempt was made to cleanse him of the corruption and restore his body to its former self. This was done in the laboratory of the Queen's court necromancer Navaru Sil'Dur. With the help of Ausar Vandermark and the dragon Twilus, the soul engine once used to restore the Arutal race and free it from the curse, was once more employed to treat the griffin.
A report was sent later that confirmed the griffin was successfully cured and is now recovering at Iron Sands. He is still under watch for any side effects or relapses, but so far it seems the damage was undone.

Reports 8/23/2021
Guard reports just came in, telling of a battle ensuing in the park, when a group of Lismore's defenders led by Relina Harem, the alchemist Delhia and a Qalasian fennec named Sefu approached the corrupted statue and attempted to cleanse it. This led to the destruction of a possessed stone construct as well as doing some damage to the Ramau bakery's outdoor seating, and one of the trees. While the corruption withdrew from the monument in the park, with the help of the temple healer Xaedra they quickly found out that the actual source of the lingering corruption in the park came from a wholly different place: the Lismore cemetery.
Rushing over to the cemetery below the city, supported by the already alarmed guards there, they engaged a giant flesh golem that had risen from a sickly green fog covering the ground of the cemetery. The wizard apprentice Sefu managed to prevent a battle with the giant golem by engaging in a talk with the eldritch mind and presence behind the corruption, and then betraying it when he opened a powerful sealing ward underneath it. During this attempt the druid Xaedra was hurt badly, but could be saved by the combined efforts of Delhia and Relina. He and Sefu were eventually brought to the infirmary, but the rift was sealed and according to first tentative assessment, this seems to have been the end of the major incursions within the city. At least for now.

Reports 8/23/2021
The forest of high garden has been attacked by what can only be described as a corrupted airship - a large vessel sporting large amounts of tentacles. During the ensuing combat, many defenders were injured, and it also quickly became apparent that Lismore's airships will be required to damage it, as an attempt to attack by land was met with heavy casualties.
After being hit by an explosive, the ship has relocated between the main island and High Garden. ALL DEFENDERS AND CITIZENS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE SHIP MAY DROP DANGEROUS CREATURES INTO THE CITY! PLEASE do not go anywhere alone or without escort until the threat is eliminated!
