Title: A Memorial for the Fallen
Post by: Aryn Gentlepaw on May 29, 2016, 12:09:10 am
Already long overdue, LT Solis would once again proposition the royal family to erect a monument dedicated to Lismore's brave defenders, be they guard or volunteer, who gave their life in the defense of their home during the long campaign against the demon overlord Doncoutle. That war came to an end yesterday when Doncoutle and his army were destroyed.

This request is signed by LT Solis of the Lismorean Guard, and a few prominent members of Lismore's society.

...like pretty much every memorial erected out there, people get to debate what they think it should look like.  :)

Ausar would propose a 'living' memorial. In the sense that it honors them, but also keeps them alive in our thoughts and hearts. His idea would be a memorial tree that would be special by having some elaborate carvings/wood paintings along it's bark.

It is a symbol of life and freedom - the things they fought for. And also it means that life always prevails.

Miriamella likes that suggestion, and the symbolism behind it, and would just ask that a commemorative plaque be added, with the names of all the Fallen on it.

Mariah supports the idea fully, Lismore has fought hard and paid many great prices to protect it's people and it's way of life, and it's defenders should be remembered and honored.

Foundations of the Fallen

Keeping in honor of those whom have been lost and not forgotten a memorial tree has been proposed. To further expand on that proposal I would like to amend with the following additions. I would find it fitting for a conifer tree. This would allow the tree never 'sleep' and forever be alive. Additionally vice carvings in the bark of the tree, as this could cause irreparable damage to the memorial itself, I suggest a footing of stones. Each stone could carry the sign, be it name or sigil, of the fallen. Regrettably, there will be great furs that fall between now and perpetuity. The stones would allow names to be added over time. As well, this is symbolic of the 'foundation' each life has had in building out great city.
