Because the current structure of the Zenko was set in place mostly by Erick and his close group of friends, and with Erick gone and some of his close friends apparently taking the way out as well, we figured this might be a good opportunity to debate the future of the Zenko faction, and what the players expect and would like to see happening to it.
If you are a Zenko player, or have interest in the matter, please post your ideas in this thread and let's discuss them. Just a few rules....
- Keep the ideas simple. No 200 pages of elaborating on your points. Go straight to the point and let's see what develops from there.
- Don't be hurt/offended if your idea doesn't get applauded. There are plenty of ideas out there and not all of them will work.
- No hateful arguing or accusations whatsoever, please. We don't need drama.
- This debate is just to see what the current Zenko players that will be staying with us like and dislike, and what they would and what they wouldn't like to see happening to the Zenko, and to consider new ideas to improve the faction. Nothing discussed here will be implemented until the majority agrees on it.
Consider this a "townhall meeting" of the Zenko, to discuss things that need to be left as they are, and things that need to be improved.
-
It would be interesting to split the Zenko into two sections... a School to learn Magic and the Military Wing of Lismore. This way we can train people without just giving them "books" to learn and give people solid RP for Magic. And if they wanted to, without obligation, they can join the Military aspect of Lismore. The issue with the former Zenko, training was pretty much solo... That was rough on any new member because they were on their own without RP. That can be changed now.

I actually really like this idea, especially as there is already the alchemist's guild centered there. I think giving an actual magic user training, with alchemy as a specialty would work well. And since thhere is a definite player base for the soldier and hero types, having that be able to be it's own rp makes some good sense.
-
I second this idea. And as a Lieutenant I'd love to teach about magical things..
-
Different classes are already in progress as well. As soon as I get Amilin back together, she is approved to teach a class on how to work around elemental weaknessess, and I know Lyera teaches people about being mana hunters.
All in all, I don't think it'd be a stretch for that to turn into a school of magic and other variants on that theme that accepts both those within the military and those who apply for it outside of the Zenko. It'd have to evolve into that, but it'd likely happen if that's what everyone wants. And of course, if permitted by the current Lord Zenko.(which I was unaware was a genderless title, but that's cool)
-
It might be nice if Zenko was a bit more accessible? Ummm.... It has great big walls around it for one thing. It's always been intended as a closed community right from the beginning, and that's an interesting concept - to have a faction that you have to work to get in to.
I mean, maybe it's just because I got banned, I've always felt that Zenko was an intimidating place to approach, physically and culturally. They don't have a public house, they don't have a place where Zenko and outsiders meet and trade, it's walls with warning signs.
Also the whole "You stay here, you eat and drink here, you will get sick and die" message seemed a bit unfriendly towards casual visitors and outsiders, to me anyway. Maybe that theme could be rolled back a bit? Maybe only heavy magic users risk contamination, while people who don't do magic are discovered to have a natural resistance?
I guess part of encouraging RP, not the only part certainly, but part is just maintaining an accessible venue where people can go and can interact without fear that their character will get sick, be just automatically unwelcome, be executed, or be banned for something someone else did when you weren't even present?
I'm not saying Zenko (either old Zenko or newer Zenko) was ever all of those things at the same time, I just think that sometimes the theme and the culture, and the venue, and even just the architecture (castles! walls! gates! guards!) felt unwelcoming to outsiders.
I think you could improve the faction by keeping the exclusivity and strictness, but including a "venue" or "space" that is physically and culturally accessible to everyone.
What do you think?
-
Perhaps, as Fawn says, efforts could be made to remove most of the contaminating mana from around, say, the teahouse. If a way were found to do that, the Zenko would have a reliable area where the public could interact with the Zenko members. Another solution would be to find the least contaminated spot on the wall and build that into a publicly uncontaminated area. Perhaps the broken entry could instead be made into a gatehouse where everyone could interact.
Closed community yes, but if people want to have a school of magic there it'll have to have one open face. Again, I'm just suggesting things here.

What do you think?
Perhaps the gulidhouse can be redesigned slightly and officially become Lismore's potion shop? And I do think the magic school would help tons. Making there be very few qualifications to take classes and no qualifications to be present to watch the lessons could help make things feel more open and inviting. It is still supposed to be a military faction's area though so we should be careful about how far we go with that.
-
Looking at what everyone has put here, i think i may have a solution that works off of what the Zenko already has, and create a more interesting RP aspect for those who are the magicy type as well as to bring others to the Zenko grounds itself.
The Zenko's Main role as protectors from the Face is for now, a 2nd priority, Instead, they now have to focus on the Corruption of the land. Tass. Although Tass is known for being a source of Raw magic, it is still poisonous and spreading, but other then that, the Tass is still mostly unknown. So the Zenko now have to focus on Containing and Researching it.
However, for the past however many years, the Zenko has existed as a military faction, focused solely on protecting Zenko and Lismore from the threats of the portal, due to this they are ill equipped to Study the Tass fully, and so the Call for Magi, priests, Scholars, anyone who maybe able to study and help contain and understand the Tass has been made.
(Note: This next part i would like to have done ICly, if this is to be taken on board)
The Current Alchemists of the Zenko, to help make this task easier, have found a way to combat the Atmospheric Tass Poisoning people can contract by being on the grounds. Using the blood from the Already mana corrupted Members of the Zenko, they have made a potion able to immunise those visiting the lands from its effects, despite this, the drinking of Tass Water is still poisonous and not recommended.
If left unchecked the Tass may spread across the island and make it uninhabitable, and so the Task falls onto the Zenko to make sure this doesn't happen.

That could tie very soundly into the thought of opening up the school of magic more publicly. The Zenko could become the forefront of magical research on the island, with the research and control of tass poisoning being one of it's many projects :3

Dont forget Rune! D: She is basicly designed around Tass, with abilities to both remove and create it.
I have been planning for her to begin to learn more about Tass, that could tie into the plans to reduce its spread. Plus with her absorbing, projection and purification abilities related to tass I'm sure she can play a helpfull part in the whole thing.
...plus, tass is basicly her god. Doubt she'd be pleased if people were to try and get rid of it without consulting her first.
-
i'll be making a "Tass mask" for my shop. price will be discounted to members of the sim, but ICly it could be baught from the zenko to allow for "free movement" around the zenko grounds without worry of becoming infected or poisioned via the air and atmosphere.
the zenko could also create Treatment pills, kinda like we do now for radiation poisioning. helps lower the rad count in the body. but i've got to go to work, ill work on this when i get home.

Nobody's forgetting you, but everyone else should get a chance to be equally involved :3
-
I like the gas mask idea, but make it potion stead of pills, i think potions fit better
-
I vote that people try to capture Ambros and use hir to figure out how hir power works >.>
*shot*
Nah, but really, I was originally going to involve hir in something like this to begin with. A good excuse for it.
-

Lies, Rune is all forgotten! :p
But still, she seems to be involved in very little to do with Tass/Manapoisoning. Would like to change that if I can. After all, its what she's designed for!
-
I'm sure everyone will get a chance to be involved once we get things rolling.
-
I personally LOVE the idea of a magic school and a greater shift towards the importance & utilization / containment of Tass.
However, I do think the Zenko's notecards should probably be revised, and if we want people to be able to feel welcome and (relatively) safe entering the Zenko then perhaps a change to the ground's rules is in order?
I also have some other ideas, most of which I've been pushing for for some time XD;
The Wall: With the tower having fallen who knows how many years ago, I don't see the point of keeping that huge, gaping hole there. I would think someone would have gotten around to repairing it right now, especially since the Zenko is no longer under threat of spontaneous attack. It might be worth redesigning or even removing the wall to make the Zenko area appear less intimidating upon approach.
The Broken Tower: Again, this has been there for some time, and I fail to understand the point of keeping the rubble around for this long. It would get in the way of daily traversal (It's either stumble over this, detour on the barracks balcony or walk through a pond) for the Zenko's inhabitants and, to me, is a waste of prims.
The Alchemy Guild: If this is going to be a focal point of the magic teaching in the Zenko, I really, really think the guild should be given an actual building instead of a hovel.
Baths: Could we have a lovely stairway somewhere instead of just a hole in the ground? XD
Tass!: With the focus shifting more towards tass and its spreading, I would LOVE to see a greater spread of tass in the area. I think additional crystal trees (perhaps replacing the mundane trees in the Zenko) and tass crystals creeping over the castle and across the grounds would look great.
General Architecture: I still would really like to see a unification of the Zenko's architecture under a set theme instead of a smattering of japanese (tea house) roman (arena) and european (castle).
With a division between military and magic, I think maybe a better representation of the military's fortifications could be present. Heavy artillery, Spike barriers around the portal (y'know, those criss-crossed X-shaped wood fences? Could be 1-prim sculpts), etc could be a really nice touch.

(long reply is long!)
Dont forget Rune! D: She is basicly designed around Tass, with abilities to both remove and create it.
...who?
;)

...wait, are you pro, or against this?
You start saying like it's a bad thing, but then you approve of it. ;)
I think you could improve the faction by keeping the exclusivity and strictness, but including a "venue" or "space" that is physically and culturally accessible to everyone.
Accessibility (physical and cultural) is a very good point! The strictness that went on in the Zenko has gone through different phases. I remember a time when the guards there were supposed to bar anyone who came too close to the portal, or other 'sensitive areas'. While there are places people aren't supposed to casually visit (like the jail, or private bedrooms!), such places should be kept to a minimum in relation to places people can go. Also on a military setting, you don't go somewhere unless you have official business there. Such barries could certainly be lowered, or removed altogether.
However, on what comes to approachability, or how intimidated you feel by the Zenko tall walls, we have to keep in mind what goes on in there. These people deal with arcane energies! They make potions that can make your eyeballs melt, or turn you into a whale! They train for combat, life and death situations. They deal with the supernatural. The mystical. The mysterious forces of the universe. Their venue shouldn't be a big tent set up on a beach. It needs to show strength, power, it must show they mean business!
I do think the Zenko's notecards should probably be revised, and if we want people to be able to feel welcome and (relatively) safe entering the Zenko then perhaps a change to the ground's rules is in order?
That's part of what this is about. We're taking this opportunity to review what people think works and what people don't think works, and make the Zenko better.
The Zenko laws are something that should be implemented IC, though. So, Relina and whoever her advisors are can get together and come up with new laws if they want.
Nope, the wall stays. :P
From any standpoint, such wall would be an advantage. It makes it easier to keep unwanted people out, makes it easier to keep people in, it ties up with the landscape, and from an IC aspect, it would take a huge amount of work to tear that wall down.
I do agree we can clear the rubble and make the entrance a little more neat. :)
The Alchemy Guild: If this is going to be a focal point of the magic teaching in the Zenko, I really, really think the guild should be given an actual building instead of a hovel.
Actually the whole "school of magic" was supposed to take place in that big-ass castle. If you ever been to an university campus, you'll notice different departments have different buildings. The castle would be the main building, and the alchemy would take place on the other building. It's also a good idea in case things go BOOM! Don't put all your eggs in one basket. ;)
Baths: Could we have a lovely stairway somewhere instead of just a hole in the ground? XD
I've been for the longest time wanting to move the Zenko Springs down to the ground where we could use the actual sim water and all, but Ken and Erick were strong against the idea. Their reasons, the privacy that the current location offers. Perhaps we should re-visit this idea?
Tass!: With the focus shifting more towards tass and its spreading, I would LOVE to see a greater spread of tass in the area. I think additional crystal trees (perhaps replacing the mundane trees in the Zenko) and tass crystals creeping over the castle and across the grounds would look great.
SPOILER ALERT:
In case you haven't noticed, all trees in the Zenko were turning into giant tass crystals. The plan was to continue that trend. ;)
General Architecture: I still would really like to see a unification of the Zenko's architecture under a set theme instead of a smattering of japanese (tea house) roman (arena) and european (castle).
Ok, this one I will put the blame entirely on Erick!
He couldn't settle for a style. One week he wanted Persian, another he wanted everything to be made of crystals, then it was Egyptian, then my TLotR tower of Orthanc, then Japanese, then we found that castle and he fell in love with it, but then he wanted an icy landscape (I guess the buildings would be igloos?)... It was very frustrating!
Of all structures in the Zenko currently, the only ones I insist on keeping are the wall and the castle. Unless someone puts together a REALLY DAMN GOOD proposal for re-doing the entire thing, the wall and the castle stay!
(but really damn good proposals are still welcome!)
-
@ Ashtyn: YAY all those things sound great *dances* And yesh, I'd love to see the topic of the Zenko baths being made public revisited :3 I'm not sure about relocating the baths so that they're exposed and in the open in the sim, I kinda like how secluded it is, but I think any point of entry other than the current location would be an improvement.
For the alchemy guild, I wasn't suggesting they be put in the castle, but rather the guild's building could be built to some shape or size that isn't obviously the midsection of a chunk o' crumbling tower x3
As for the general architecture thingy...I like the castle a lot o.o Why not use that same pseudo-european architecture of the castle (dark stone, towers, stained glass <3) for the rest of the Zenko, plus glowy colorful crystals to offset the dark doom n' gloom? :3
-
Clear the rubble and repair the walls, perhaps even make an arch gateway as entrance. As for the general architecture, I would like to see the arena being kept, it still does serve a good purpose, but perhaps rebuild it into something more fitting with the castle.
-
i'm working with a small scale design to propose to ash for a entry gate as well as give zenko that unified feel. i am also working on standardized uniforms but am in dire need of a quality texture artist in order to speed up my work. i can do the textures myself if absolutely necessary, but it will take a long while.
i'm also running a event called ATTACKS, yes all caps, that will ICly give zenko a reason to remodel and deal with the need to call for a reorganization of zenko.
the main bits of the event are classified and are on a need to know. anyone who has been disclosed information i request you keep quiet about it. what you know, even if you deem it minor, is sensitive information and i have disclosed it to you for a reason.
-
Prehaps one thing that does need to be taken into account, is making the zenko grounds one style or the other, at the moment its a medivil castle with a japanease tea house and a romanesc arena, so its alittle hap hazard, so along with the new gate being made, prehaps have a theme to the area instead of looking like its all been plonked down
-
So while I'm going about checking the to-do list on the Zenko, let me ask the Zenko-sympathizers a question:
Should I leave the perpetually-falling snow in the area, or can that be taken off?
The never-ending snowfall was another of the things Erick liked. I want to know if it's relevant for anyone else, or if it can be scraped.
-
I find the snow laggy and unneeded. That being said, it's not my decision.
-
i like it. thats part of the zenko history. unless you plan to make a mountain region with lots of blizzardyness. that would be the tits. :3
-

In theory, you could change the terrain for the upper mountain reaches of the ground-level sim from its kinda sandy state to something snowy, and then mebbie add ice n' snow features to everything :3 Save on prims AND it'd be blizzardy and mountainy. I just suggest this cuz I dunno how much a mountain region with lots of blizzardyness would be used, y'know?
-
Personally i think it should go back to the way it was when i started at least partly it was relaxed peaceful there was an inn a dojo a hot spring and for the most part it worked why not go back to that find someone to watch over it laws are simple and the idea of splitting it up into two factions why not take that further and make it a place to seek knowledge and relax like a school with a small village around it find people who know different things and have them teach others best part wouldn't have to do much changing

There's no intention to split it into two factions. The academy and Zenko military are the same faction, the Zenko as a whole. We do not simply want to throw away the newfound military aspect, and the idea to have there be a school has already been suggested - in fact, we're quite keen on it, as it helps give the Zenko a more unique purpose.
-
I do like the idea of making the Zenko grounds into a mini village outpost thought, specially if the spring does come down.
-
So while I'm going about checking the to-do list on the Zenko, let me ask the Zenko-sympathizers a question:
Should I leave the perpetually-falling snow in the area, or can that be taken off?
The never-ending snowfall was another of the things Erick liked. I want to know if it's relevant for anyone else, or if it can be scraped.
What's the IC reason/explanation for the snow?
If there is none, then out with it. It serves to create nothing but lag.
If there -is- a good IC reason for there being snowy there, then maybe. I'd still say out with it though, as it causes a noticeable amount of lag, especially when more than 5 people are in the same area.
ALSO:
To improve the Zenko, let me put it this way: Less teaparties, more actual military activity & discipline, and more academic RP.
I had a page-long rant about the Zenko earlier (oh how I've ranted to my friends), but I couldn't make it sound less offensive if I tried so I decided to summarize a little:
As it stood before, there's been no RP to even suggest that the Zenko is a military force and hasn't been since I joined Lismore and the Zenko the first time.
Apart from the occasional events hosted by the ECs, I've had more interesting things happen at my grandma's teaparty than in the Zenko. Needs a fix imo.
-
I can't remember if there was any IC reason other than Erick loved ice stuff and was associated with ice magic, so once it started snowing one winter, it stayed like that perpetually simply because he liked it and ice was his thing.
-
if i recall he used caex's death as a excuse for it.
-
To improve the Zenko, let me put it this way: Less teaparties, more actual military activity & discipline, and more academic RP.
*gasp* Not the tea parties! 8< Anything but the tea parties!
x3 But yeah, moar of what you said, unless people are off-duty...
Also, the snowflakes have made me lag plenty :x Having perpetual snowfall with standing water on the Zenko grounds doesn't make sense to me, either >.<
-
Ok, so unless anyone has anything else to add, I guess the snow is going out for now.
-
...and if anyone has pictures/links/reference to what they think would be a good replacement for the Zenko castle, send it to me please so I can have an idea what people are going for. :)
-
...and if anyone has pictures/links/reference to what they think would be a good replacement for the Zenko castle, send it to me please so I can have an idea what people are going for. :)
*blink* Wait I'm confused, I thought the castle was staying?
For references, do you mean images for one you could construct, or pre-made castles in SL to purchase n' throw down?
-
The castle is staying. But I want to remodel or rebuild it because that one there is a prim monster, and I know I can build something as good or better for many less prims than that one takes.
-
Hmm...Well, there's one castle I know of that's positively gorgeous. Mind you, I don't expect something like this could ever be built to scale, but I really like the overall design.

Right now, the Zenko has just about everything needed for a proper european castle - a outer wall, a courtyard, and the main castle. If you were willing, you could go so far as remove the tea house entirely, and replace it with a big, robust tower like in the images to serve as the barracks. From there, y'could absorb the Alchemy guild into the central construction of the castle to save on prims, and -bam-, one nice, but uniform design :3
-
I'd prefer something old, grey, and gradually sinking into the landscape....

I think this would be suiting, as i feel the design would work for a small castle

-
oh you WAAANT soemthing old grey and sinking into the landscape.
i thought when you said that you meant it was a bad thing. thus all my pink castle ideas :P
-
I think the guardhouse should look more like a barracks to house the guards. The fallen pillars should probably be removed and the workstations that exist within them should probably be placed within a sort of guild hall. I do notice that IC RP hasnt exactly been the best for a military faction but there are some things that can be done. Ill start hosting some training events as well as a class when I can, though I havnt seen many people take advantage of the classes already being offered. The castle should definately serve a more scolarly role within the Zenko so members can learn more. I dont think well be doing much splitting up as we have to get more members first and the squad idea based on a certain class didnt work so commanders will most likely be in charge of certain people or more than that regardless of class.
It will take a bit of time reorganizing but not too much. If a character needs something done at the Zenko, the person playing them can always IM me oocly and ill come in to help. The snow effects doesnt really add much IMO, but its not a huge annoyance. The only things I can think of that need restructuring are the guard house, the castle, and the work stations.
Ill try to up the ante so we dont keep a reputation for tea parties XD
-
All this talk about overhauls and the thread in the Phoenix got me thinking - a new alarm system should be implemented for the Zenko.
Given that the whole area resides on a mountainside, ringing out a bell loud & large enough to be heard across the island strikes me as being terribly perilous, what with avalanches and the highly volatile tass crystals growing on the grounds. The idea was spitballed that maybe signal fires should be used for the Phoenix, but this was shot down due to the low visibility in the caves.
Since the Zenko is the highest structure on the island, I think signal fires would do much better there than a bell. It also strikes me as much more visibly impressive. What do you guys think? o.o
-
I dunno. There hasn't been a problem with the bells in the past, I rather we just not fix what's not broken there.
-
Unless you want all the members of the Zenko to take up yodeling or waste mana sending up flares, signal fires are fiscally and physically improbable, due to the amount of wood needed and the frequency of violence within the Zenko grounds.
-
I support the yodeling idea Xema has
-
i think it would be nice if/when the Zenko is rebuilt, that an actual bell tower be put in.
-
i think it would be nice if/when the Zenko is rebuilt, that an actual bell tower be put in.
Now that is something I can agree with, we all know Zenko has an alarm bell but there's nothing inworld to ever represent that. It would also bring in some extra RP, to having someone actually send to the tower in order to ring it and all.
-
Actually, that doesn't sound bad at all. Perhaps it could be mounted in one of the castle towers or atop the barracks?
-
or both, nothing said two alarm bells couldn't exsist

Well if the castle IS to be rebuilt. then prehaps a bell tower could be added into the design
-
So, new poll!
Should we keep the crystal trees and keep making more crystal trees as the normal trees turn to crystal, or should we use just regular trees in the Zenko?
Please vote!
-
something else. i vote for plain old crystals. preferably of a complex hexagonal structure when grown as trees. the current trees kinda need more of a crystal-like shape. and shrubs and bushes can grow like gypsum roses aka desert roses. vines can grow up walls like frost crystals. you know, make things grow in normal crystal formations but as close to plants as possible like the mana is trying to emulate plant life.
-
Rune approves of all crystal growth :3
-
Ok. The crystal trees stay. We might find a way to make them better, but they will stay crystal.
Now, next question:
What do we do about the pieces of the fallen tower that are in use?
I got mixed answers on that, so we figured it would be better to have another poll! Please vote!
-
why not have it that the old pieces of the tower, get reused to build the new buildings.
-
That is an idea I have been thinking about but it would mean that they would need to be placed elsewhere at least in order to clear up space.
-
Sell the bits of tower for Phoenix! The castle may like a darker style :3 or, could use it to build a bigger tavern

Linked from this Topic http://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=158.0
Some thoughts and ideas of what to build on the Zenko ground were thrown into that topic, but this one is specific for the buildings and styles we as the Zenko members would like to see. Ive been parusing the marketplace for a castleish like building to replace the one thats there, thats low cost and low prim, and this is what i have found so far
https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SMALL-MEDIEVAL-CASTLE-40-X-24-m-51-LOW-PRIMS/1478326
IF you have ideas, examples, or have found any in SL / On the marketplace, put them here so we can see what we want.

Uhm Jay...you linked to the same topic you just posted in. o.O
Also, a model has been made so far for the whole Zenko Grounds, and Ashtyn will be the one who will build the actual builds....we all know how prim conserving the Boss Foxeh can be, considering he cut down a 600+ prim castle to just 150 prims >.>
-
thats what happens when you post something at 3am -.-;;;
-
He did make a separate topic, but it seems to have been merged. :3
-
Thanks for the input, Von (and everyone), but the castle replacement is already built, and now I'm working on the other structures. What I'm still not sure about is what will be done to make the Zenko go boom!
...last I heard, Relina and Caex were coming up with something... Is there a thread for it? We need to get things in motion, we have a bad habit of taking months to do such crucial events.
-
As I told you before, if needed I can easily come up with a plot to wreck Zenko's buildings :3

HEY I HAVE WORK DAMNIT! .... ok no diffrent from any of you :o
after i get home from buying my combat boots today, i should be able to dedicate a fair amount of time to getting this hammered out.

And new question for the pool!
We have been debating setting up some rental properties throughout the sim, where people can have a spot they call their own and all that.
The city will definetely have some buildings for rent, and around the Temple ground too, and probably up in the Great Forest and in the Caves.
But what about the Zenko? Should there be a few rental properties in the Zenko grounds too? Would people be interested in that? VOTE! :)
-
While I think there should be some property for rent there, the Zenko is still a hazardous area- especially with the portal still there- and so it should be limited in some way- for example, available to members of the Zenko force.
-
The Zenko is a military operation, but it would be interesting to see, once the school and the actual layout are completed, some form of small dormitory system.
-
I have a question.
Will people with rentals be required to keep their plot "ic" and only be all9wed things their characters would have?

Good question!
I think the furnishings should be within the Fantasy theme. You do whatever you want when you're in your home and if you want to be IC or OOC it's up to you, but you shouldn't have a Star Trek food replicator or a big screen TV in there (besides, do TVs still work in SL? Last I checked LL had killed YouTube TVs...).
-
i think that if it's supposed to be ic(ish) home for your character, then yes you should have things that your character might have. if you want to have sci-fi or modern things then there are rooms elsewere for rent for that. home rental properties like these at the Zenko and in the Temple and City would be for your character to have their own private place, so the things inside should reflect the ic character / period setting of the sim.
-
If it is visible from and acsessible from ic areas,I think it should be decorated in an ic manner.
-
I agree with Naurel, considering the rentals are on the IC levels of the sim it is natural that the home should be similar to the era they are in and the character that rents it.
