GENERAL RULES

-NEW TO ROLE-PLAYING?
If you are new to RolePlaying, please read this glossary of terms and definitions.   http://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=16.0
For a detailed Introduction to RolePlay Guide, check out this link: http://www.fur.com/tapestries/wiki/User:WhiteWizard/Roleplay_Guide
You will need to fill out a character card to become a registered player at Lismore.

         http://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=21.0

You should read the Character Creation Guidelines http://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=24.0 before writing a character! Also, we recommend you read this post in our Forums highlighting some extremely common mistakes people make in their cards, so you can avoid delays in your approval process: http://sculptyworks.com/lismore/index.php?topic=478.0

-TOS & CS:
We are all bond to the Linden Labs / SecondLife Terms of Service (TOS) and Community Standards (CS). So make sure you know them first of all.
All our rules are checked with the Lindens to make sure we have the authority to create and enforce them.

-THIS IS A MODERATE (Mature) REGION:
The region hosting the Lismore Lands RP is a Moderate region. As such, we will not publicly promote adult activities or content and do not use adult search tags.
The area hosting Lismore Lands RolePlay is not a public space! This is a per invitation only area where you may encounter Adult situations which are by no means our primary intent (if you're not comfortable with that, now is a good time to leave).
SecondLife's Knowledge Base defines Adult Situations as:

-Representations of intensely violent acts, whether or not photo-realistic (for example, depicting death, torture, dismemberment or other severe bodily harm)
-Photo-realistic nudity; photo-realistic means that an image either is or cannot be distinguished from a photograph
-Expressly sexually themed content, spaces or activities (whether or not photo-realistic); we will broadly define what is "sexually themed" to include any sexually oriented activities and conduct
-Representations of consumption of controlled and/or illegal substances such as alcohol and medicinal/psychotropic drugs.

While these are not our primary intended forms of RolePlay, you should be aware that such situations between consenting adults may happen as part of fantasy RolePlay. We advise players to keep their Adult Situations to private spaces, but 'privacy' is a relative concept in SecondLife.
If you are not comfortable with either of the above, please leave now. Furthermore, YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO ENTER THIS REGION. Any Resident who states to be under 18 in Real Life will be removed from the region until proven otherwise. So don't even joke about it.
Characters designated as 'underage' can not under any circumstance participate in adult situations!

-HARASSMENT, GRIEFING or ABUSE:
We have no tolerance whatsoever for griefing, which is basically what happens when anyone violates the Terms of Service (TOS) or the Community Standards (CS). Anyone abusing or harassing will be banned from the region and Abuse Reports will be filed against the Resident(s) in question.

-DRAMA:
(That applies for Out-Of-Character (OOC) behavior. In-Character (IC) drama is an entirely different story and is dealt with as part of the ongoing RP.)
This is a no-drama zone. What does that mean? "Drama" happens when someone becomes unhappy with someone else or something, and decides to be relentlessly vocal about his or her opinions on the situation. Also described as: "Creating a scene for the pure intent of getting attention by placing negative/angry/annoying bitchy vibes in the air". So, don't do it, it won't be tolerated and will be dealt with according to the judgment of the staff member who gets involved.

-SOUNDS and GESTURES:
Do not spam with sounds or gestures while expressing yourself. These things lag the sim and they interrupt the flow of RolePlay. Those continuously found spamming sound gestures can refer back to the no griefing, as spamming of gestures can and will be treated as such.

-OUT-OF-CHARACTER COMMENTS:
We find that 90% of all troubles could be avoided if people forgot that OOC exists. So please keep OOC comments to yourself. Those found making rude comments of others OOCly will have a staff member rule proper punishment for said comment. We all understand sometimes OOC comments can not be avoided but please keep them to absolute minimum and in proper quotations, (Like this) [Or this] ((Or this))  OOC: Or this.
The Lismore Lands GroupChat (available to registered players) is strictly OOC space. Want to chat with people, not characters? Chat there.

-PRIVACY:
Privacy is a vague and relative concept in SecondLife. Local Chat range is 20 meters, so anyone within 20 meters from you will hear anything you say on Local Chat. If you do not wish your conversations to be heard, switch to IMs.
Camera snooping is not considered an invasion of privacy, although it is generally rude to watch someone from afar without their consent. Panning the camera around is a feature of SecondLife and there is no way to 'protect from it' other than being really, really far away from anybody else.
Chat spying using scripts is strictly forbidden. In fact it is a violation of the Terms of Service of SecondLife itself!

-CHAT PRIVACY DISCLAIMER:
By participating in the RolePlay in the Lismore area, you agree that anything that is said in the Local Chat / Nearby Chat can be shared with any members of the RolePlay. The Local Chat is property of everyone in the Lismore Lands Group. The same applies to Lismore Lands' Group Chat.
Always get consent before sharing Personal IMs!

-GROUP CHAT  ETIQUETTE:
The first rule concerning Lismore Lands Group Chat is: If a staff member tells you to drop a subject, do it immediately and without arguing. Failure to do so will result in your Group Chat privileges being revoked and can even lead to a ban from the sim. The Group Chat is property of Lismore Lands and is NOT a place where you can say whatever you feel like saying. Be polite, be considerate, and we should have no problems.
Lismore Lands Group Chat is NOT your personal blog or message board to announce what's going on in your life.
Do NOT use the Group Chat to make announcements promoting business or places not related to the RP or infrastructure in Lismore.
Lismore Lands Group Chat is NOT a place for you to fight with others or express your discontentment with other players. Do not start, instigate, or participate in fights.
Avoid starting and/or engaging in controversial arguments in the Group Chat. Controversial subjects could be and are not limited to Politics, Discrimination, Violence (such as Rape, Mutilation, Torture), Drugs, Sexual Preferences, etc. Lismore Lands Group Chat is NOT the place for you to express your personal views on such matters, and you should respect that some people are sensitive to certain subjects.

-LANGUAGE & SPELLING:
Our official language is English. While we cater for peoples from all corners of the world and they are all welcome in this sim regardless of nationality, please use English to communicate.
Also, while we don't expect you to have the spelling skills of an English professor, please keep in mind your spelling. In a text-based RP, text is our most important asset, and it must be understandable. We all make spelling mistakes, it's normal. But try to put effort in the way you write so people can understand you properly.
Character cards with excessive spelling errors and that can't be understood for whatever reason will be refused.

-AVATARS & WHAT YOU WEAR:
If your character is not a standard type of avatar (such as much larger/heavier than average, very tall, a sentient substance, amorphous, a living suit of armor, etc), we ask that you do not engage in RolePlay as per the VISITOR RULES until your character has been checked out and/or approved by the staff. Uncommon avatar type characters can be sometimes problematic to approve and are handled on a case-by-case basis. This rule is to prevent storyline continuity issues should your unusual character not be approvable.
Due to the nature of our RolePlay, certain avatars are not considered appropriate for our setting. Nobody should be turned down because of the quality of their AVs or because of what clothing they can afford, but avatars should fall within the realm of 'realistic', whether they are human or furry or animal. We do not allow avatars that are distinctly cartoony in nature. If you have an unusual avatar and you are not sure it would be allowed, just ask a staff member and they will be able to tell you.
Your clothing can be as simple as a loincloth or as intricate as full knight's regalia, but it must not be distinctly modern in appearance. Anything up to the Victorian Era should be acceptable.

~As adults you should be able to work out your own problems and disagreements about the RP and what should and should not have happened, in a civilized and private manner. If for whatever reason you can not do so, then contact a staff member and ask them for their verdict.~

VISITOR RULES

If you are just stopping by to check out the place, or if you come here but don't have a registered character, you are a visitor. So welcome! Thank you for stopping by! We like to share our place, so feel free to look around. But please keep in mind a few things:

-Be respectful of the ongoing RP scenes. The Residents playing here don't have to acknowledge Real Life references. This is a fantasy world. If you start talking about your iPod and your car and McDonald's, accept it that you will be seen as some crazy person saying a bunch of nonsense. If such becomes disruptive, it will be dealt with as harassment. So forget about the real world while in here!

-Your actions by default will not affect the course of the ongoing RP. You may interact with the registered players or other visitors. Players might choose to remember you, befriend you, or add your presence to their account of things, but as a visitor your actions will not have permanent effects in the storyline of Lismore.

-While we acknowledge all species and races, some large AVs should not enter Lismore, because the place is built for the average human height. There are special exceptions for registered characters. Contact a staff member if you have questions about this.

-Just to make clear you understand this: If you don't have an approved character, and you start a fight, you automatically always lose. None of your weapons work. None of your powers work. You are just here to check things out. Unapproved characters have stats never greater than those of an average human, have no special abilities and no items of significance.

PLAYER RULES

All Registered Players must have had their character sheets approved by the staff. Please read the Character Creation Guidelines before submitting a character for approval.
When approved, you will receive back your character sheet in a Notecard created by one of the staff members, set to no-modify / copy / transfer permissions. That is done so that if there ever is a dispute in your abilities, you can show whomever doubts you your character sheet. The staff-created no-modify status of it will prove you did not alter your sheet from the one that was officially approved by the staff.

-ALTS:
Each player is entitled to up to 9 characters, distributed however they like either in the same account or using alt accounts. Please note in the character notecard if the character is being played on an alt account and whose alt that is. Those found playing more accounts/alts than allowed will be dealt with accordingly as in violation with the General Rules.

-PROPERTY DAMAGE:
Property damage, that is damage to parts of the sim, be it trees, rocks, buildings or the like, any damage that couldn't be easily dismissed or buffed off, can not happen without the approval of the staff.

-CHARACTER DEATH:
Every character must be subject to some form of demise. Everyone must killable one way or another (though some may be harder to kill than others). But as rule, unless a character is in a situation from which there would be no escape, the player decides to allow his own character to be killed. Unless the character is in a situation from which there is no escape, give the other guy a chance to evade the attack, defend himself, or fight back.
Nobody may deal one-hit killing blows (unless previously agreed)!
If you character does die, they are not allowed to show back up at the island the next day in good heath. THEY ARE DEAD.
However, this does not mean that the character is gone for good. Lismore is a world of high fantasy, and resurrections are not unheard of. It isn't something that is trivial, however. It is a process that needs to be an RP event, and approved by the staff, as well as having other players (not your other accounts) involved in the process. Expect your character to be changed by the experience, and to have to write an update to your character card.

-METAGAMING:
Metagmaing happens when your character does something that you as a player know or have access to, but the character you play should have no knowledge of. An example would be having an OOC conversation with another player about your character's abilities, and then later that player's character takes an action using that information about your character that his character should not really know. This is frowned upon and you should never do it.

-EVENTS:
The staff member running the event has the final word!
As long as their decisions don't violate the General Rules or SL's Terms of Service or Community Standards, whoever is running the event has the final say on any situation or issue that arises during the event.
When you participate in an event, please keep that in mind. If you have criticism about the event or the person who ran it, save it for after the event. We appreciate feedback, but don't try to force your opinion in while the event is going on. It causes delays and has the potential to create unnecessary drama.
If the person running the event seems to have overlooked something, feel free to point that out to them in IMs, but if they acknowledge the matter and say they want to do it the way they did it, please don't argue any further.

EARTH and SKY

Lismore Lands RolePlay takes place in a huge skybox in the Clockwork region in SecondLife. The RolePlay areas are between the altitude 1441 meters and 2882 meters on the North side of the region, and are enclosed by colossal 'sky prims'.
Anything outside that area is not part of the RolePlay.
Non-RP members who may accidentally or intentionally end up in RP areas are bond to these rules and will be regarded as VISITORS.

THE FINE PRINT

...because you can't have a backyard cookout these days without some legal blabber.
This is a private area, owned by Ashtyn Ninetails, the SculptyWorks and Lismore Lands groups, and managed by the Lismore Lands RolePlay Staff members. We reserve the right to grant or deny service and/or access to anyone.
All intellectual property present in this area is property of its respective creators and copyright owners. Players and visitors grant Lismore Lands RolePlay non-exclusive rights to use their likeliness (through screenshots) and content of their In-Character interactions in any non-defamatory manner we choose. Content present here may not be used or redistributed in any way without express consent of the respective copyright owners.
All donations to our Tier Fund are final and non-refundable. Tier fund is handled by Annonabhar Resident and every L$ of it is used to cover tier costs. If there's money left over from a previous month, that amount rolls over to cover tier costs of the following month.

Revised and brought up-to-date the General Rules to reflect the move from the Private Sim to the Clockwork region.
Added "Legal Notices" (aka the legal crap) fine print.

Clarification on definitions of Adult Situations:

Characters designated as 'underage' can not under any circumstance participate in adult situations!
